Tim the host was brilliant, the double room en suite was great, breakfast was good. We would stay there again. Only one minor criticism was that the property was hedged in, so no views.
Boutique style B&B in tranquil location overlooking the river Exe. A ten minute walk from the Puffing Billy pub from where you can walk along the River Exe Trail south to Exmouth and return via the train for a pleasant day out. The trail also goes north towards Topsham which takes around 20 minutes on foot where you can experience the sunset from the bars / restaurants on the riverside
We had a very large room with large en-suite shower room and patio doors to an outside seating area. Apart from that we virtually had the run of the entire ground floor including breakfast sitting room with another TV and a utility room equipped with tea and coffee making facilities etc. Wonderful fairly remote spot beside the River Exe and an excellent host.
Great communication prior to stay, warm welcome, exceptionally clean, comfy room
Great bathroom
Excellent host
Stunning location for riding bikes and walking
The property is tucked away from main roads and is tranquil and peaceful. It is next to the Exmouth - Exeter railway line - which causes no trouble - and the river. Yes, I would stay there again.
Riverdown is a lovely place to stay for a quiet weekend break. Nothing is too much trouble for the owner to sort for you. Breakfast very good, pubs and restaurants in local area. Close to beaches and Exeter. Can be difficult to find but we'll worth the effort. If down that way again will definitely stay there.
This B&B is a little off the main road and may be difficult to find without a sat-nav but prior to my arrival our host sent us an email containing his personal mobile number just in case we needed directions, which we didn't. Our room was a lovely clean large comfortable double room with a large modern en-suite shower room. The room also had patio doors which lead onto a small private patio for our use. The use of a private kitchen to make refreshments was available as well as the use of a small lounge which doubled as the breakfast room. Our host was very helpful and the cooked breakfast was more than ample. A lovely stay.
Tim was most welcoming, our en-suite room was comfortable and spacious with access to the garden. We had free use of the kitchen and lounge. Tim prepared a very tasty breakfast.
WE enjoyed a really excellent stay at Riverdown. The standard of the accommodation was very good. The owner was very helpful in providing advice as to where to visit in the locality as well as helping with restaurants in the area. All in all, an excellent stay. We would certainly book again when we are next in the area
We stayed 1 night on Wed 5 June 2013, and arrived just after 2pm (NOTE: some online booking websites are displaying the wrong Check-In time. Actually Check-In Time is 4.30pm). As per other reviews Jan & Tim are welcoming and the ensuite room was perfect. Breakfast was perfect for us, cooked breakfast with choice of cereals, drinks, choice of breads for toasting yourself to your own liking and choice of spreads & jams. Jan was very helpful on where we could walk to watch wading birds, and we ended up walking all the way to Exmouth following the River Exe and the railway line. We got on the Exmouth to Exton train @£2.60 and was bemused that we had to ask the conductor to stop at Exton (else it would drive pass). That evening we did hear the last train go pass the B&B (and the early morning trains), it's so brief that it didn't bother us much. Us living near LHR and in a street full of noisy neighbours slamming car / front doors, we had a more peaceful night's sleep than at home!! We enjoyed our stay so much we will definitely stay at Riverdown B&B again.
I was very impressed by Riverside B&B - it offered everything that I expected and the rooms and facilities were absolutely spotless. Tim and Jan were very welcoming and put on a lovely breakfast. I give everything a 5/5 rating except location - not because there is anything specifically bad about this however you will need your own transport to get there. As it's close to the River Exe you'll love it if you want to relax away from busy people rushing around.
It was brilliant stay for me - I booked it via Hotels.com application on my mobile and arrived to it 3 hours after booking - the room was ready for me 100% and hosts are very welcoming and helpful. Bedroom is great - large and warm. Bathroom has a powershower - just brilliant! Everything is new and modern. Breakfast was very nice - good choice and excellent quality. Location - middle of nowhere, but with massive 24 hour Tesco within 5-7 minutes driving. Thanks hosts for my great stay! Recommend 100%.
