The drive up to the hotel was stunning , We loved the old style of the hotel absolutely beautiful. Our room 169 was very spacious and welcoming. Food was top notch what we had although more choice chicken,pasta ect.Breakfast was brilliant plenty to choose from. Staff very welcoming and always on hand to help.Looking forward to returning .

Butlins of the Lowlands
Advertised as a 4* Hotel, but turned out to be Butlins with golf (although even that was out because of the weather). Sophisticated and up-market the patrons were not, while many of the staff struggled to communicate in anything intelligible as a language and service at a lightly used Brasserie would have made even a snail impatient (1 hr for a burger - please!). Room and bathroom decent, but finding it was like Theseus following Ariadne's thread - seriously what architect came up with that Labyrinth, only for it then to be made worse by poor and misleading signage. Gym was good, but the swimming pool was packed and I fear contaminated with numerous yellow clouds emanating from its pre-teen users. And the piece de la resistance, the breakfast - only the baked beans passed muster - the scrambled eggs were powdered and the pain chocolate so old it crumbled in your hand. Dalmahoy used to be a good hotel; the Estate and golf courses are superb, but it has decided to abandon its original 5* metier to cash in on the 2-3* mass market "On the Beach" crowd when it is not designed or resourced to cater for them. The basic infrastructure still has potential, but it needs a lot of investment and a reset to 5* luxury aspiration to bring back to its former reputation

Stayed for 1 night and had a great meal in the Pentland restaurant, breakfast was also great in the morning. Staff were all helpful and pleasant but the only downside was the pillows in the room being far too soft so couldn’t get a great night sleep. We phoned reception to ask for firmer pillows but didn’t have any unfortunately.

Good hotel with horrendous pizzas.
Nice hotel set within lovely grounds. Rooms a bit dated and needing some TLC. Our room had a broken bathroom lock which, after reporting, was sorted very quickly. Breakfast was good with an excellent selection however we dined in the Brasserie on the second evening and were told only pizzas and salads were available due to an issue in the kitchen. We ordered pizzas all round but when they arrived looked very much like cheap frozen pizzas. None of us ate much and wouldn’t recommend. We mentioned how poor this was but were just told it would be reported to the manager which I thought was a poor response. Only afterwards we realised these were priced at £17 each which added insult to injury.

We have been here quite a few times over the years. We feel the room was very dated. No book or paperwork in room to inform us about facilities. Just a grotty cardboard triangle with qr codes. Not suitable for lots of people. Also only 4 coat hangers in wardrobe and no sanitary bags either. Shame to see such a lovely hotel going downhill!

We've stayed at Dalmahoy twice now & its still our favourite accommodation option in Edinburgh. We've stayed once as a couple & now with a young child & the facilities & activities the staff set up are wonderful. All so accommodating with kids. The facilities such as the pool & restaurants/bars are fantastic. If you dont feel comfortable with driving into the city, buses come every 10mins or so & go straight in.

The decorations and welcoming staff made for a very positive experience. The room was perfectly adequate although the bathroom needed an upgrade. Finding your room was an adventure on its own. From the outside it doesn't look like it should have so many half-levels! The location was very good, with various options to visit Edinburgh. The amenities too were varied and very convenient. We enjoyed our Christmas dinner in the Dalmahoy Suite. However, the quality of the coffee to finish our meal was somewhat disappointing! Overall, our 5 night break was a lovely experience, but could have been slightly better.

Gorgeous hotel but a bit of a maze
We’ve had a couple of trips here now with the family :) Positives: it’s beautiful, the have big family rooms, we love the pool, the breakfast is fantastic and the breakfast room is really lovely Negatives: it’s an absolute maze. I think the family rooms are in the least convenient spot and at best it’s an absolute trek to get to any part of the hotel at worst you are getting lost/stressed/late trying to find your way. Maybe better signage or numbering could help. It sounds fickle but it’s a huge drawback that always leaves us considering whether to return and certainly excludes us taking older relatives with us sadly. That said the positives are very much a positive and the beauty and facilities are super.
