I have been part of a golf outing that has stayed at this particular Holiday Inn for the past 25 years. All of my stays I would give a 5 star rating until this year. I always booked directly through the Holiday Inn. This year I called them and the front desk said they were to busy to book and I should call back later. After 3 more attempts over a period of a 4 hours I was still told to call back because they were tending to customers at the front desk and were busy. Needing to get my booking in I decided to go with Travelocity. My stay was for 2 nights. All was good until the morning of my checkout when to my surprise there was no hot water. I confronted the front desk when I checked out thinking they might offer some type of compensation but I was wrong. I was told it was not an issue with them since I booked through a third (Travelocity) party. Are you kidding me? What does Travelocity have to do with the hot water ?
After further debate I was offered 1000 points on my Holiday Inn member card. I found this very disappointing and consider it bad business. After 25 years I don’t know why it was so hard to make a booking. Is the problem a policy change or an inefficient staff at the front desk.
