Very poor serivice. My wife arrived ahead of me at midnight but they would not allow her to check in as they said it had to be the person who booked even though we had the same surname. When I eventuall arrived I had to wait outside until the staff member came to buzz me in even thoigh it was freezing and wet outside. When questioned the receptionist about check in he literally ignored my questions. When we eventually got checked in we were told we could not order a drink even to our room and only the mini bar was available which had a selection of over thought drinks that were not appealing. We also booked a room with a view but were on the first floor overlooking the main road

This hotel was in an excellent location with great touches in the room such as GHD straighteners and a dyson hair dryer. The hotel was lovely and clean with a complimentary glass of champagne on arrival, again a nice touch. The mini bar was also complimentary. We would definitely stay again. Thank you.

Room presentation and finish is crisp. Mini bar has a nice variety although snacks did not appear to be stocked for two people (a possible oversight) Air conditioning when fan at a certain level felt like we had a continuous morse code due to this and unable to achieve a comfortable temperature we did not sleep well. The soundproofing is non existent,you can hear your neighbours and if the kettle is on or shower,walking back and forth ,talking and so on,for light sleepers this in not a win. The room even at a discounted rate was not value for money. Was disappointed overall. Great location geographically but if you wanted a view or even a window this room didn't have it. Other than physical appearance the window was no more a window than a gesture to building/room compliance(we assume). We called it the crevice. No complaint made which we would normally but it was a busy schedule and we didn't want do dwell on it and overshadow our festive day out.

Market Street Hotel is a definite go-to if I visit Edinburgh again. It's clean and modern. I was first assigned a bigger room (Roomy) but it had a small window that looked out onto another building with no view of the sky at all. The front desk readily acceded to my request to change to a slightly smaller room that faced Waverley Station and Princes Street. I didn't dine at the hotel because there were lots of food options around the area. This hotel is located close to the Royal Mile and is a good base to walk to many attractions in the vicinity. I went everywhere on foot, to places such as Princes Street and St James Quarter for shopping, Calton Hill for the view and monuments, Royal Mile, Victoria Street (the inspiration behind Diagon Alley in Harry Potter) and many other places. I am so very glad I chose to stay at Market Street Hotel. It's just across the street from Waverley Station where Waverley Market is located and where you can find lots of food options like Pret, McDonald's, M&S Food, Sainsbury Local, and even a little WH Smith!

Awesome place to stay in Edinburgh
A great hotel for our short trip to Edinburgh. Location is perfect and the hotel itself and the service were a 10 out of 10. Will definitely stay here on our next visit.
