This was an interesting experience of being below 0 degrees for several days. The highlight was the fog sled ride with Cody as he was very friendly and knowledgeable. The ice museum was also interesting. The dip in the hot springs which felt like a hot tub with snow and ice surrounding me was a unique experience. We really enjoyed the greenhouse and geothermal plant. The aurora evening was somewhat disappointing as we chose an evening when they failed to appear. The ride in the AVT was interesting but very bumpy. I wished there had been a naturalist to explain the science behind the auroras not just provide hot drinks and snacks in a warm yurt. We had to wait two hours for the shuttle after arriving at the airport. It was an enjoyable experience.

The room is small, and the dinner reservation staff seemed slightly impatient.
We try to do our stay-cations a couple times a year. It was dirty and poorly kept, rooms were too hot. Mold on indoor jacuzzis, staff tried to down play the incidents. Next year we will find a different place.
Very convenient to the pool and hot spring. Close to activity center where they provided northern light tour, dog tour, ice museum tour, skimobile. Close to main lodge where there is the restaurant and gift shop. Food there is really good. The room is very clean, but small and very very hot. We had to open our window to cool our room. The room also comes with two day hot spring tickets which makes it very worthy especially during winter time.
My family and I stayed at Chena for 6 nights in December. The drive from Fairbanks was easy and check-in was smooth, even at 11pm. We booked two double bed rooms and they were small but clean. We ate at the restaurant on site for many of our meals. Prices are high but portions are huge. We left quite a bit of food behind unfortunately since there wasn’t a mini fridge or microwave in our room.
As for the hot springs, we loved it. Plenty of locker space and hooks at the end of the board walk to hang your towel. It’s a perfect place to warm up after a day spent doing winter activities.
The property is absolutely beautiful and staff is great and friendly.

The water smells lile sulfur because of hot springs, food and staff our great, rooms are average needs update but it has a more vintage type cabin vibe. The ice museum and hot springs was great
Loved the Hot Springs! Everyone there was so nice and helpful. My Mother is in a wheel chair so they put us as close to all the activities as possible.
We love this resort, the hot springs, etc was awesome!!! The service, food and facilities excellent and we saw the northern lights 3 nights in a row. We fulfilled the objective of the trip. Thanks so much!
Chena Hot Springs is definitely a unique place to visit. The hot springs themself were great, and it's worth the visit just to experience them. We stayed for two nights and I can't imagine staying longer unless you were absolutely focused on seeing the northern lights and are ok waiting for a weather window. We did not see them, it was overcast the whole time. They also don't really offer wake up calls, so we had to just periodically keep on checking.
We stayed in a Fox River room. It was clean- but nothing special. Our first room was ridiculously hot with no way of cooling it even with the windows open. It was in the 30's outside. The thermal heat was radiating up from the ground. They were super accommodating and moved us to a room on the 2nd floor that was much cooler.
There is a TV but only a couple channels come in and the only one that came in clearly was Fox News. There is not a fridge or microwave in the room which made it difficult to bring leftovers from the restaurant or keep room drinks cold. The restaurant itself was very good and had many options which is good since it is the only option for all meals. Though there is a Cafe with frozen stuff you can heat up in their microwaves if you want.
We went to the ice museum- it was neat though I am not sure it is worth the $20, but there is little else to do so I would plan on it.
All of the hotel staff were super friendly. Overall, I am really glad we went and enjoyed it, but do not see the need to go back.

I didn't like the way the dogs are treated. They are chained on short chains to their little houses just running in small circles. After 8 years of the hard work they are being dumped for adoption . The property needs to be upgraded especially little showers. We really liked the restaurant. The reception worker in the morning had no idea how to work the computer and was not able to provide us the invoice. The aurorium room was cold and the light was not working.
Every member of the staff is beyond excellent!
Property is in desperate need of a revamp for sure!
Hot springs are wonderful however also in department need of a revamp.
Buildings are very ran down
Food is excellent! Tours inside property excellent!
It was definitely a fun experience. We jave lived here for a long time and had never visited. Room was ok. Our phone did not work but they came and fixed it. One point I would make. If I pay the same amount for each night, I would appreciate room cleaning every day! I am paying the same amount each day. I should have clean sheets and towels every day. If I would get a discount for the second day that would make sense. If I pay the same amount I should have a completely clean every day.
