The Stay Hotel in Faro is in a good location, many good restaurants within easy walking distance, one right next door, which was very good. There were plenty of shops nearby, everything from gift shops to high end clothes stores.
It’s a short walk to the waterfront, where there are many more restaurants and bars, there are also a lot of boat trips available. The train station, and the bus station, are a further five minutes away.
So location wise the hotel is fine, but otherwise not free of faults. After a delay at the airport we arrived late on a Saturday evening, in torrential rain, check in was quick and easy, unfortunately when we went to our allotted room, it had not be cleaned or prepared for our arrival, bed was unmade, bathroom dirty etc, they immediately allocated a different room which was fine, but it should never have happened, very sloppy.
A few niggles, soap was supplied in the usual small bars, but the was no dish to put it in, so it slid around and made everything slimy. Another annoying thing was a continuous background humming, barely audible during the daytime but seemed to get louder at night. It was not the room’s air con, as that was turned off.
Prior to leaving the UK I messaged them several times to ask about nearby parking facilities, as there is none at the hotel, they did not respond to any of my requests for information, that is very poor.
For the most part the hotel is fine, as long as you don’t want to spend too much time there. The staff are ok.
