A really nice place to stay but a shadow of its former self.
The food was really nice with a comprehensive buffet breakfast served everyday. Lunch and dinner was a la carte with no daily change to the options throughout the course of our 5 day stay. We were told by the staff that buffet dinners were on hold until the resort got busier.
We counted no more than 50 quests during our stay, so very quiet for a resort this size. (Most would probably love that but it affected what was available to us).
The pool is amazing and the towel service was easy but the swim-up bar never opened.
No kayaks or ocean equipment was available and not many people swam in the ocean although it was warmer than the pool. (Most likely due to the NZ navy ship recently sinking on the other side of the island).
Staff were friendly and helpful at every interaction.
The outdoor pool at the spa wasnt in use and was located too far away in my opinion.
There were no tennis courts available despite this being on their website.
The children's playground was off limits as it didn't look like it had been used for a while.
The resort branded car was in the main carpark, with flat tyres and moss growing on it. Not a good look for the brand I would have thought.
Overall, I expected a lot more from a Sheraton/Marriott resort. It did seem that they were getting back on their feet after the pandemic which we understand but should have indicated what isn't available on their website.
