The CLUBHOUSE is located near Saugatuck-Douglas in Glenn, the PANCAKE TOWN! The Clubhouse is situated high on a bluff, down a quiet country road along the shores of Lake Michigan where you can enjoy the cool breezes and lovely sunsets over the Lake from our large wrap-around deck.
The Clubhouse is very user friendly--with an open floor plan, there is space to hang out together, or you can find a quiet nook to read a book or write in your journal. The back yard is large and full of possibilites--badminton, star gazing, or a game of tag. There's a creek nearby to hunt for frogs and a woodsy area behind the house. With the Lake on the west and the woods on the east, the CLUBHOUSE has it all! It's epecially popular with cylists and walkers, since the local roads are not as busy as other lakeshore areas. On rainy days, we provide an interesting collection of games, puzzels, TV, DVDs and high speed interenet.
A perfect cottage for families to enjoy the sounds of nature, and a slower pace. A short walk (less than 1/4 mile) down the road brings you to a grassy clay slope, bringing you to the Glenn beach. In years past, there was plenty of beach where you could take a nap, a swim or work on that novel you've been trying to write. Over the summer, the beach will continue to change and evolve, hopefully getting wider and more user-friendly. The children will enjoy hunting for critters in the creek, or minnows in the big lake. That being said, you are only a short 15 minute drive to 2 of the most highly acclaimed beaches in the world--Saugatuck's Oval Beach and South Haven's South Beach. There is also the Pier Cove beach, Casco Preserve, and State Park--all have beaches this year!
Holland is only 20 minutes to the north, where you can enjoy movies, farmers markets, shopping, and museums and all things Dutch. A little closer to Glenn is Saugatuck, long noted for its artistic community. The galleries are enticing with cutting edge artwork from the local artists, and downtown Saugatuck is full of fun shops that offer a wide variety of Michigan treasures to take home with you. Saugatuck also has all the vacation standards--ice cream, fudge, great dining, and even a ferry! A growing community of entrepreneurs live nearby, offering cider at the Virtue Cidery and Crane Orchards, local wine at Fenn Valley and the newer Modales winery. Holland, Saugatuck and South Haven all have Farmer's Markets on Saturdays and Wednesdays where you can buy local organic produce.
To the south, a 15 minute drive brings you to South Haven, with a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and boating opportunities. Don't miss the beautiful South Haven Pier and the Blueberry festival! Further to the east is Casco township, home of many fine family farms and Cogdal winery. In fact, you can go on a winery tour of many of the local wineries. And don't miss Virtue Cidery in Fennville. Fresh fruits and vegetables are available at local farm stands, and local cheeses as well. Or go to Fennville, just a short 20 minute drive, to the incomparable Crane's Orchard for sandwiches and pie, (now also serving alchohol) or Salt of the Earth, a quality restuarant that specializes in local produce, grass fed beef, and yummy breads and baked goods and coffee. And for sanwiches and soup and other gourmet goodies, there is Farmhouse Deli in Douglas on Blue Star Highway. Southwest Michigan is paradise!
