We spent 2 wonderful nights in the Riad Salam Fes. It was extraordinary! The Riad was everything the pictures indicated it would be---authentic Moroccan feel, beautiful architecture and furnishings and a wonderful staff.
Upon arrival, we were greeted with the most incredible smell of jasmine, oranges and rose water as we were checked into our room. The room itself was fantastic. It was comfortable, yet felt like we had traveled back in time by several hundred years to the Morocco that we had hoped to see!
Each morning we were served a very large breakfast in a beautiful porcelain tile walled room at the side of a fireplace. The hotel staff was kind, responsive to our needs and available at any time day or night.
The front door can be a little hard to find, as it is located in a very narrow street that requires walking about 400 meters from the road where a taxi can drop you off. There is signage, but without the help of a friend from Fes that was with us, we would have been hard-pressed to find it on our own the first time.
However, the next morning, when we left to explore the Medina, this was a huge advantage as we were able to walk directly from the Riad and find ourselves in the middle of the old city of Fes.
