Staying at riad sunrise was like a home away from home. We managed to find the riad ourselves using google maps, but this was difficult. They do offer to come meet you though! We were greeted with Moroccan tea, which was lovely and refreshing after a long journey. Simo sat with us and told us about the Riad and the local area. We wanted to stay in a Riad to get a real authentic stay and that’s what we got! I loved the bathroom and may even decorate my own just like it. The sun terrace is great and also gives a wonderful view of the medina - the only thing I would add would be a parasol for some shade. Simo recommended a restaurant for dinner and not only accompanied us there but came to collect us too so we would not get lost - he also secured us the best seat/view! Sumaya makes THE best Moroccan breakfast! I woke one morning with a saw throat and she happily went out to the shop to be able to make me a hot water with freshly squeezed lemon and honey!! Both Simo and Sumaya were really friendly and welcoming, offering advice on where to go and what to see and also greeting us and asking how our day was when we returned. Regardless of any work they had to do they were more than happy to take the time to sit, listen and share - whilst also giving us the privacy we needed to relax alone. We really felt like family and missed this elsewhere. I would 100% recommend this Riad, it’s right on the doorstep of the medina but somehow still offers peace and quiet.

The location was in the medina area. The woman greeting me had very little English but she helped me the best that she could.

Nuice gem in Fes
Manager Hlita, although we had difficulty communicating in English, has earnestly served us from prepping breakfast meal, cleaning to finding a place for dinner. Terrace view was a plus to that.

This riad has so much potential. Our room was a bit dirty and seemed like it needed some freshening up on arrival. The sheets on the bed were polyester and in the desert climate, that just doesn’t work. Breakfast was bread, butter and jam (one day I it was two day old hard croissants). We asked for some fruit on day two and never got it. While eating breakfast the owner decided to clean the entire floor around us with chemicals as we ate. I’ve stayed in so many better riads for the same price or less.

Terrible, terrible, terrible. Do NOT stay
I am not sure where I can start here. This hotel is terrible, absolutely not a place to stay. Smells sewer and urine every where. There was no soap, shampoo, etc. in the room. So I asked if we can have some soap to wash our hands. The staff gave me some type of soap mixed water in a "salt shaker". Absolutely terrible place. We made reservation for 2 nights, but checked out next morning. Even though we did not stay 2 nights, the guy collected the city tax for 2 nights in cash. I have no idea why hotels.com still has this in the hotels list they offer.

Nice Riad, good location and cheaper than similar
Enjoyed staying here - it's down a slightly dusty alley, and it is a few metres outside the actual old city walls. But on a map, it's right in the centre of the medina, and we enjoyed being just a little away from the intense hustle and bustle, but able to walk into it within a few minutes.

Clean, Comfortable Stay in a Traditional Riad
The location of this hotel can be confusing if you're using Google maps, because it's only accessible by foot inside a narrow corridor. With that said, it's an easy walk to the entrance of the medina, and from there it's easy to walk to different mosques and other sites. The room itself is extremely comfortable, and I had a very restful stay while I was there. The service could have been better though; I don't speak French or Arabic, and the woman who works in/manages the riad doesn't speak English and wasn't very friendly or approachable. However, the manager of the riad was very helpful, although he seemed to work remotely and I didn't get a chance to meet him. He helped with securing tours and taxis for me through emails/texts. I also didn't get a chance to eat breakfast until my last day there because I wasn't sure who to talk to about coordinating the meal; there is no front desk area and staff are not very present. However, the breakfast was delicious when I ate it, and it's included in the price. All in all, I would recommend staying here if you want a comfortable stay close enough to, but just outside of, the hustle and bustle of the medina's marketplaces.

Great hotel, near the medina
One of the best places Ive stayed at in my 3 months of travel. All because of the owner mohammed. The nicest and most helpful person I've met on my travels. Sorted out a pick up from the bus station for me. Met me there aswell! Helped organise guides & transport to the airport. Just made it very very very easy and relaxed. Breakfast are huge and filling, was cool yo have them with other guest and mohammed. Lots of esrly morning chats. Room was comfy. Slept well. Great location. Yeah just a cool stay

Everything are OK, but there are bugs
This Raid looks quite good, beds are normal, pretty the same as what we was sleeping in Marrakech. However, one really bad thing is my girlfriend being bite by bugs with big red spot on her stomach. It certainly happen in the Raid since we are too tired and only rest in Raid most of the time in Fes. And it is the major reason for such low score.

Room smelled weird and there was no window. Both bathroom sink and shower drain were clogged. They also run a tour company and kept offering their services, which is fine, but we had prebooked a tour with some other company, and when the guide called trying to speak with us, they said we were not staying there, and didn't give us message - very unprofessional.

Great location, could provide better service
We were met at the station, which I'd definitely recommend, as I cannot over stress the impossibility of finding anything in Fes when you have just arrived. We were shown, from the car, to the riad by a non-English speaker, who vanished before we could attept to ask any questions. So, fearing getting lost, we went without dinner that night, as the restaurant in the riad was not operational (we found this in a couple of places in Morocco, probably due to it being low-season but it would have been good to know this in advance). So, not a great start, but breakfasts were good and our visit was made by the guide who showed us around the Medina on a half day trip, it was worth the visit to Fes for this alone, he was great. Overall, could have been a bit more attentive and helpful, but still a good location in a findable part of town off one of the main roads.

The guy in charge was extremely helpful and nice, and the terrace on the roof was wonderful! The room was clean, though it was a little cold in the night since we were there in winter.

Great value in a guesthouse atmosphere
If you're looking for an authentic experience, Riad Sunrise offers great value. The staff were excellent, and made several appreciated suggestions and arrangements for us. Potential guests should realize this place functions more like a guesthouse or BnB rather than a small hotel. Rooms overlook the courtyard where breakfast is served, and noise carries. We enjoyed the interaction, so this was a positive for our family. It is also impossible (and I don't use that word lightly) to find this place on your own. As such, having them arrange a pick-up at the bus, train station or airport is an absolute necessity. (We did, and the driver was great.) We also had them arrange a private 3 hr walking tour of the medina for us. We've never done this anywhere before, but were so happy we did in Fes, the most confusing/wonderful rabbit warren of a place we've ever visited.

Very authentic riad/home in the medina.
Riad Sunrise is a great place to stay in Fes if you're looking for an authentic medina experience. (This being pretty much the opposite of a Holiday Inn.) It's down a narrow alleyway (as most riads are) with no signage. As such, arranging a pick-up from the airport or train station is a must. I also recommend a private half-day walking tour your first day to help get your bearings. Our family room was great, it overlooked the central atrium which meant there's some noise from the eating area and other rooms. If you're looking for a quiet, private hotel, this isn't it. If, however, you're looking for a memorable experience in a real historic building, this place can't be beat - especially at these prices. I would recommend Riad Sunrise (and Fes in general) to my adventurous friends.

Nice, clean room but less-than-welcoming staff
This riad is down a back Street outside of the main medina area so is probably quieter than other riads but noise from the alley could still be heard in the rooms. The room was cleaned every day and was nicely decorated with everything we needed including a hair dryer. Unfortunately we never felt welcomed by the staff as they didn't make any real effort to talk to us. When we came to pay we were told that the card machine doesn't always work, but we tried anyway and the staff refused to enter the amount into the machine (either they didn't know how to work it or simply didn't want us to pay by card). This left us with no choice but to withdraw the cash from an ATM machine at night, which we weren't comfortable with.

Excellent Riad
Riad is located next to the old medina but in an allie which can be a little hard to find. Staff was very helpful when we arrived, I recommend taking a taxi and calling the riad before arriving. It's very stylish and cozy, we really enjoyed our stay and the staff helped us with all our wishes. Highly recommended!
