We were excited to be staying at this historical, steamboat-era hotel in a typical Western town. However, our stay did not meet our rosy expectations. The room, looking out over main street (noisy at times), was small, dark and awkwardly laid out. The small bathroom was not updated for a while, and dark. And everywhere, there were little notes to remind guests that they would be charged for damages to towels or sheets or whatever. It did not feel welcoming and fun - and kind of dusty and not sparkling fresh. Coffee and a (delicious) muffin were served for guests in the morning, but the Lewis and Clark room where you had to go was dingy and again, dark. Our biggest problem occurred when we tried to have dinner at the hotel's restaurant. We had reservations and a great waiter, but after two hours of waiting we finally received our entrees and then one of them was inedible (all fat). We were not charged, but all in all the dinner was a total failure. Kitchen was completely overwhelmed. This was to be a special occasion stay for us and it really did not materialize.
The back patio overlooking the river was lovely.
