Holidays in Gatlinburg

Life is all about good friends and amazing adventures. So pull out that well-worn passport — it’s time to take those itchy feet of yours to Gatlinburg!

Often, it's the people living in a city that make it tick. In this part of Gatlinburg - Pigeon Forge, you'll find 4,000 of them.

Nashville, the state capital, lies 300 kilometres west of Gatlinburg, while Pigeon Forge can be found 10 kilometres to the northwest.

An afternoon at Hillbilly Golf or Amazing Mirror Maze is a great opportunity for a bit of quality family time. If that isn't enough to wear the young ones out, why not visit Ripley's Haunted Adventure or Circus Golf as well?

Take a dive into an underwater world that's filled to the brim with aquatic life at Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies. Come to think of it, it might be better to stay on dry land. Some of these critters aren't to be messed with!

Your littlest travellers will be filled with awe and wonder during a visit to Parrot Mountain and Gardens. They'll experience a firsthand look at how animals behave while learning about what it takes to care for them.

If you think man and beer were destined to be together, don't miss a visit to the Smoky Mountain Brewery. The brewers' commitment to this delicious, golden drop can be found in every glass.

If you would like to discover a greener side of Gatlinburg, organise an excursion to one of its leafy parklands. Stop by Herbert Holt Park, Mynatt Park or Mills Park.

Don't forget to pay a visit to Chapel at Honeymoon Hills and Sugarlands Visitor Centre. Their friendly team of experts will be able to give you advice and inspiration to get the most out of your stay.

Admire the swirling spectacle of Baskins Creek Falls and Mannis Branch Falls. The endlessly flowing water at Laurel Falls and Ramsey Cascades is also quite amazing.

Slip on some comfortable walking shoes and gear up to go on an adventure. There are numerous nature reserves around here that are just waiting to be explored. The clean, crisp air and natural surroundings at Sugarlands Valley Nature Trail and Metcalf Bottoms Picnic Area are as rejuvenating as it gets. Two further areas to take a look at are Chimney Tops and Alum Cave Trail.

If you're seeking to discover something new or even just find shelter from a rainy day, the Guinness World Records Museum and the Cooter's Place should be on your list. Ask about guided tours or study the displays in your own time. If you've got the time, also go to the Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum and the Star Cars Museum.

Pick up a cup of coffee and spend the day gallery hopping between the Shops at Carousel Gardens and the A Jan Peitso Art. Overflowing with striking works, these excellent exhibits offer something for all visitors.

If you want to understand the now, step back into the past! For a glimpse into the events and people that have made this area what it is today, make your way to the Christ in the Smokies Museum and Gardens.

Time spent at Noah Ogle Place and the Historic Ogle Log Cabin is an excellent way to gain a deeper understanding of Gatlinburg's history.

Are you ready to take a spiritual journey? Get a look into some of the local beliefs, and maybe even find the answers you're searching for, at Chapel in the Glen and Saint Mary's Catholic Church. If you can spare the time, Saint Mary's Catholic Church is also worth a look.

They're unlikely to be at the top of your itinerary, but Rafting in the Smokies and Gatlinburg Ziplines are still well worth a few hours of your time. You'll also find plenty to keep you busy at Roaring Fork and the Ober Gatlinburg Aerial Tramway.
