The hotel offers splashy marketing materials, portraying itself as a modern oasis. We visited during the off-season, and we found that the reality is not as advertised.
I'll start with the arrival. The hotel is located at the end of an unpaved road. More accurately, a rocky road. The hotel's owners would be wise to finance the completion of a paved road to their property.
We used Expedia to reserve and prepay our booking. We paid for two rooms, each at a two-person rate, as we had a total of four guests. A glitch on Expedia caused the booking to say that we only had one person per room. However, it was clearly marked that we had paid a two-person rate. Noticing this discrepancy weeks in advance, we had Expedia reach out to the hotel to confirm the booking. Expedia even provided me with a letter, stating the hotel acknowledged that we had paid using a two-person rate.
At check-in, the staff stalled the process. They argued that the booking only said one person per room, therefore we were obligated to pay an extra fee for a second person in each room. We disagreed, and produced the letter from Expedia. Even after that, it took a half hour for them to process our check-in. There were no other guests checking in at the time. This appeared to be a deliberate attempt to convince us to just pay the money, and get on with it. We did not. Eventually, we were handed our keys.
