Really close to the bars and situated near little India. Convenient. Though, what I don't like is the hallway has mosquitos and it some went inside my room. The beddings have a slight smell to them.

Good location but no windows...
The location is good but there is no window in the room , it wasn't really clean and you can hear everything through the door. The facilities are old but OK.

this hotel is really comfy. i'm really glad by staying there for 1 day
There are mosquitoes in all the open areas, they might get into the room if not careful.
Due to the wooden floor construction, anyone walking by in the corridor is obviously audible, falling asleep is quite difficult.
Toilet facilities are barely functioning, leaky pipes and taps, slow water heater and no soap nor shampoo is provided.
A lot of mosquitoes everywhere, i got insect bites on my back too when I sat on their wooden chairs and the internet is unstable only available at the lobby.
I stay at 4Bed room (2pax of double decker bed), shared bath room. The bed that provided is Comfort bed... Some shared bath room no heater, some shared bath room have heater.... Room very clean, few walking distance to crowned area...
rather cheap place, but with some unwanted company
The location was good, and it was cheap, and probably for a one night stay this would be fine. We stayed for a night, but we found some ticks inside our room. And from then our readiness to accept this place went down. We had some spray against bugs and mosquitos with us, and hunted down everything crawling around. Having ticks there wasn't funny, and from the spots on the wall we concluded that we weren't the first ones to smash some ticks there. The windows are btw literally non-existent, it feels like sleeping on an open street. i am not sure i wanna go there again. On the plus-side: free chilled water.
Well, we arrived at Penang around 3am in the morning. So we slept at Gurney drive. Around 11, i called to Muntr Inn and asked whether we can early check in. And they say "Can!can! The room is ready to occupy!" The room is good (for what u've paid for). 2 rooms for only RM123.30! What else could ive asked for? Good place. Nearby to town tho.

Beds Bugs and Street Noise Galore
This hostel looks the part from the outside and in the lobby but the trouble starts when you head upstairs. To start we were given a room facing the street - if you're offered the same please say no! as the noise from outside is deafening till all hours of the morning with tourists, cars and all matter of animals going past. To add to the fun the room has uninvited guests in the form of beds bugs. From mentioning this to the owner bed bugs seem a regular occurrence at this establishment. We also encountered another guest who complained of them.
Other than the bed bugs and the noise the hostel is ok but you can do much better by just walking around and asking for prices in nearby places. We actually moved after 2 nights to another establishment 4 doors down on the right further along the road which was much better.
Great guest house. All of the staff were so nice. They're also friendly. This guest house also provided the breakfast from 0800 until 1100. I love the coffee. This guest house also nearby street cafe, bar, culinary restaurant and bistro. You can do some boys night out like us in the midnight, having some great coffee and take some pictures. This place (George Town) super authentic as it is a World Heritage Site.
Booked & paid for my stay online. Upon arrival, learned that they are actually fully booked. Therefore, they placed us in a room at a different hotel which was next door. We were too tired to even realize the name of the hotel. Anyway, that hotel provided us with the coldest air conditioning known to man & a sad piece of blanket for ONE person. When we asked for another, the staff was unsure of how to respond. Hm... Not a good experience. Very disappointed.

Good location, avg hostel/guesthouse, mosquitoes
There's coffee/tea 24/7. The 4-bed dorm I stayed in was clean, and I had it mostly to myself. There is a safe for each bed, but the lock on mind didn't work. The mosquitoes are pretty bad in this neighborhood and easily make their way into the lounge area of the inn. The coolest thing about the breakfast is that they have oatmeal (as well as toast/jam/butter). Most other places in this price range only serve toast/jam/butter.
I really hate to bash this place, but the man running this hotel was one of the few positives about this place. He was funny and helped answer our questions and booked our ongoing travel. But that being said the hotel has great improvements to be made.
I don't get why they were allowed to include airport pickup and an inside pool with a poolside bar with their ammenities because they are both falsely stated. We booked this hotel specifically for these two services because we needed a ride from the airport, and because it was hot when we stayed in Georgetown so we wanted to swim. We sent a message asking to be picked up and never received a response. The "pool" is a inside koi pond. Have fun taking a dip in that murky green water!
Also, when booking, there were no private bathrooms available. This was really unfortunate because the public bathrooms are infested with mosquitos. If you want to shower or use the toilet it's almost guaranteed you're going to be bit. It was really unpleasant having to swat at them the whole time you're trying to make business. Perhaps they can figure out a way to prevent all these horrible bugs from taking over their hotel by closing the front doors and putting screens on the windows.
However, this place was reasonably cheap and close to many Georgetown attractions. I still don't know if I could honestly recommend this hotel until they fix some of their issues.
I booked online and pre-paid for 2 nights. The girl at check-in told me that I had to pay another MYR2 / night in government tax. I reminded her that my online booking 'included all taxes and fees'. She backed off but did not apologise. It felt like a scam... if they do that with everyone who has booked online, they will have a nice little earner.
My single room was about twice the size of the bed inside it and had no windows. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. In such a room you need the aircon on. My aircon alternated between silent and sounding like a gale was whistling through the pipes. This cycled every 10-15 minutes. The blanket on the bed was so small that it only covered 2/3rds of my body (even when under it diagonally... either my chest got cold or my feet got cold. The floorboards in the corridor acted like an amplifier for all footsteps. Someone walking down the corridor to the bathroom, unless they tip-toed, sounded like someone stomping - it was so bad that my bed shook as they passed my room.
On my first night the stomping didn't stop until midnight and began again at 4:30am. With my aircon and blanket on top of that, I got very little sleep... at 4:30am I was downstairs in the common area working on my laptop.
The second night was the same but I lasted until 5:30am.
In the end, I was happy to leave.
A shame really, because the manager seemed like a really nice guy.

Soundproofing is bad, mattress is uncomfortable
I stayed there twice. In room P, and room X, which is a room with single bed. The table in room X is not level, so u can't put anything heavy on it.
The mattress is not firm enough to support a comfortable sleep, you can feel the structure of the spring whenever you press the mattress.
Soundproofing is barely there, can hear the sound from the walkway. It is quite annoying during the nite, when you are sleeping and someone else is going to toilet, you can clearly hear the sound of the door open and close, and it was so loud.
