We chose Lawson Adventure Park for the mountain cabin experience for the central location to various towns and activities, some convenient on-site amenities, like basic dining options, and especially since they also offered white water rafting as an add-on activity.
Pros: Communication was excellent; the texts and links provided were very helpful. Staff was friendly and helpful. The cabin was just large enough for 1 adult and 2 kids without feeling cramped. The scenery - wow, just beautiful. Great location - quick drive into Idaho Springs or Georgetown to dine or walk around. It was also a simple drive to Winter Park.
Cons: NO A/C. It was just warm enough to be uncomfortable and took us awhile to fall asleep. There is a ceiling fan and a large portable fan. Another con - it's near a highway, so I'd recommend a white noise app on your phone. We wanted to open the windows for air flow, which I'd recommend during the day, but it's tough at night since we didn't want to hear the highway noise. I'd also check ensure the linens for the pull-out are clean.
The Beginner white water rafting experience was so fun! Jimmy was our guide and he was excellent. He was so great with our group, patient, skilled, and had a calm energy. We would absolutely take their tour again (if water is cold, I'd definitely ask for a waterproof jacket, in addition to the wetsuits provided, which we weren't aware was available). But, we survived and it was fun nevertheless.
Overall, a great value.
