Heartland Hotel was Comfortable
The Heartland Hotel was a good place to stay at after visiting the glaciers on the way to Queenstown. The hotel was comfortable and the restaurant and bar were very convenient on site, although you have to walk outside from your room to get to it. The staff was very friendly. The hotel is older but was still well kept and the room was clean and comfortable. Parking was right outside to room.
The property was immaculate but it did have a couple of issues. We had no parking near the room we were allocated so we had to lug all our bags from the carpark around to the room which was quite annoying. Once we got into the room we found out that the whole facility was on central heating so our room was absolutely cooking. The fella on the front desk turned it off for us but said if someone needed it on then we'd pretty much just have to put up with it. The rooms really need to have the ability to be individually controlled
First hotel room in a long time where there was no fridge in the hotel room. Furniture was dated and marked, there was a smell in the bathroom and we couldn’t turn the heating off. The restaurant saved it, great food. Having stayed at Heartland Queenstown earlier in the week, this Heartland couldn’t be more different.
Lovely property. Lots of amenities; pool, snacks, breakfast, free parking.

Liked: Staff & service
The motel is in a world heritage site but it really needs renovating. The staff were really friendly, nice and helpful. Lots of fried food in the restaurant. But the location is hard to beat if you are exploring New Zealand’s natural treasures.

Very surprised to find no fridge in the room when we had all our breakfast ingredience with us, have never had this anywhere else . Shudder to think what was stuck to the skirting board under the bench didnt look too good. Howe er the Whitebait fritters were amazing
No toaster, plates, cutlery or fridge in room. It felt like I was left with no option but to use on site restaurant. This hotel is in a remote area and this lack of usual amenities seems cynical.
