Stayed here on Christmas Day. What an wonderful way to spend a cool day in an onsen. We wanted the experience to be authentic traditional Japanese way so we picked this Ryokan. The place is old and clean, very pleasant. Having a private onsen was very important to us so we paid more for it. The dinner and breakfast were great. It was not cheap, but the experience was worth it.
A wonderfully historical Hotel in Hakone. It is the typical Ryokan with dinner and breakfast included so be ready to eat lots of fish. Food is good but maybe not as high standard as other places. On the other side the building and its outside onsen are fascinating. The location is good as it is close to Hakone station next to a river. However you don’t get Mountain View as you would in Gora for example. We loved the place staying with two small kids and grand parents.
Such a beautiful ryokan! They were very kind to upgrade our room before we arrived, we ended up staying in the Moegi room which is very close to the entrance and has a private bath. We arrived just after check in and not very many other guests so we were happy to have the public baths to ourselves while we used them, but there is also a family bath on the 3rd floor you can use privately, and you can use the outdoor baths privately from 10pm-4am for 30 mins each time. You do not have to book in advance to use these baths privately. Upon arrival were given a tour of this beautiful property
The staff was very helpful. One of the staff spoke good english and another spoke chinese which one of my friends was fluent in. They carried our bags to our rooms and were very friendly and helpful. The facility was very traditionally japanese and was a fun experience. The meal was interesting with many different pieces and they specially made courses for vegetarian and pescatarian members of our group
Beautiful property and exquisite stay, very comfortable. Very nice staff. The only ryokan that can provide vegetarian meals. Their dinners and breakfasts are huge, we eat a lot but we were so full after each delicious meal (note that traditional Japanese breakfast is savory no coffee).

Liked: Cleanliness
Disliked: Staff & service
The host was extremely rude! Especially the front desk manager (a Japanese man) gave us dirty look when we approach them, and refuse to help us to call taxi when we leave the hotel. We had to ask another girl host to help us to call taxi ( and the desk manger kept telling her off and preventing her to help us). Also the hotel woke us up at 4:30 am one morning without any apologies. Overall I didn't enjoy our stay at the hotel and was really disappointed.
The in room dinner and breakfast service was excellent. The onsen in the room and the private bath options were amazing. The character and heritage of the ryokan was impressive
This place is very very cool. It's definitely a real traditional experience, and we had such a relaxing time. The food platters were so impressive. The hot springs were relaxing and the perfect end to our trip. We had a hot spring tub in our room which was very nice to have. Just be warned, the futon bed situation is not the most comfortable if you are not used to sleeping on your back. Also, They enter your room a lot to serve tea and give food so just know when they are planning on coming. They came in at 7am to prepare for breakfast at 8, so you may want to plan to be awake before then. We did feel like it was a very unique experience however, so I would definitely recommend at least one night here.
