Terrible check-in, nice hotel and great breakfast!
While the hotel has a great location and lovely breakfast, the check-in experience unfortunately left room for much improvement. Me and my partner were met by a young man in the reception with a bad attitude. I asked when arriving if they had better rooms available and he said yes, I then asked to be upgraded as this is part of the hotel program I'm part of, and free upgrades when larger rooms are available are one of the perks. He said he couldn't find any information about that and that I had to speak with his manager the next morning. I showed him the booking website with the info about upgrades and he now said there weren't any bigger rooms available and that I again had to speak with his manager in the morning. He wasn't apologetic about the situation or tried finding a solution but rather very defensive and unfriendly.
We were given a regular room and it turned out someone already was staying in that room, and when returning to reception to inform him, he first didn't believe us but when he went to check, he realised he had given us an already occupied room by someone else. After checking his system, he magically found a bigger room available for us which we could stay in (something that he had previously claimed was sold out).
To summarise, check-in was terrible but the rest of the stay was very nice and the people in the reception the following morning were lovely and very friendly and service-minded.
