The hotel staff was quite friendly, not once did we pass one and they not greet us. It can be said that the hotel was once very nice but has not been kept up and is now in need of a lot of attention. The carpets throughout are dirty, the hard floors in the lobby and in the dining room have not been swept/tables & chairs were dirty with crusted food, dust and spiderwebs laden on tables/chairs in pool area (which appeared to once be quite nice). During our stay, the parking lot had approximately 10 cars so there wasn’t a lot of people staying during our trip.
Our room: hallway to room, across from hotel laundry btw, has cigarette smoke emanating into hallway. The hot water never rose above lukewarm and the tile floors were greasy (slipped each time),carpet was dirty (per my socks after walking on them). The mattress and pillows were comfortable for a one night stay, which is all we did. It’s super close to harper’s ferry (which is why we chose it) and other food/stores. The restaurant at the hotel was closed during our stay. All in all it’s sad to see, what seemed like a nice hotel at one time, decay due to lack of maintenance and care. It served our one night stay but would have chosen elsewhere if we were to stay longer.
