We stayed at the Titanic Port around New Year’s 2026. While the hotel itself is nice and most of the staff (special mention to Melek, Hussein, Myra, and Kaan) were excellent, our New Year’s Eve experience was handled poorly.
We relied on Guest Relations to book a New Year’s Eve dinner and were quoted €725 for six people at By Balikci, with a €225 advance paid at the hotel. As tourists visiting Turkey for the first time, we were not informed that indoor smoking would be allowed. When we arrived, the restaurant was heavily filled with cigarette smoke, making it uncomfortable for our group, as none of us smoke.
Although the restaurant manager, Beril, was patient and tried to help by moving us closer to a window, it took close to an hour to resolve, which affected the evening. When we contacted the hotel afterward, they told us the advance payment had already been transferred and could not be refunded, something the restaurant manager directly contradicted, noting the hotel receives a commission.
We were later told by the hotel that any other restaurant would have been the same, which only reinforces that this should have been clearly disclosed in advance. Had we known, we would never have paid this amount for the experience.
