This beautifully appointed hotel is ideally located just south of I-40 at the north end of Old Town Albuquerque. Restaurants, galleries, shops, the beautiful plaza are all within walking distance for those with strong legs. It is an easy drive to the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center with its fine museum, weekly events, and indigenous cafe. With I-40 right at hand, it’s also easy to take a day trip to Acoma Pueblo’s Sky City and other pueblos. The hotel is a gracious, open space, the lobby offering a soaring beamed ceiling, huge chandeliers, lots of comfortable seating for conversation. Staff are friendly, helpful, and ready to serve. Our 9th floor updated king bed room was spacious, immaculately clean, comfortable, with a splendid view across the city to the Sandia Mtns. Our one disappointment was the hotel restaurant and bar. We only ate there once because the service was so poor and the food mediocre. Our server seemed anxious to please but was either inexperienced or poorly trained, and without apparent supervision. It took 20 minutes for two glasses of wine to arrive at our table near the bar; by then our dinner salads had arrived without dressing. The restaurant itself is conveniently located off the hotel lobby but seemed out of place in an otherwise gracious, upscale hotel. We will gladly stay at the Hotel Albuquerque again, but will dine elsewhere.
