Very good

Our double room was two single beds pushed together with no mattress topper. It was the hardest and most uncomfortable bed we have ever slept in - we could feel the springs. Furniture was extremely old with missing handles, marks on surfaces and a table that couldn’t be used as it wasn’t level. Room service said to call for food but there was no phone - just a cable coming out of the socket with nothing on the end. Poor heating - a plug in electric heater was available. Lighting was awful, and very dim. Extractor in the bathroom was pointless. Breakfast was average. We have stayed on a few other occasions for functions at the manor, and only stayed again for ease of location.
The hotel itself is stunning and feels like it's truly in the countryside despite being not too far a distance from Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, Aylesbury, etc. The manor room was beautiful and very spacious with a comfortable bed. The food at the restaurant was also extremely good - we ended up eating there each night because of how tasty everything was. My only complaint is the water in the room - it would only last for about 1-2 minutes before stopping completely for about 4 or 5 minutes (no matter whether it was the sink, bathtub or shower) which was really inconvenient and annoying. I'm not sure if this is a regular occurrence or if there was some type of issue. Regardless, everything else was nice and we enjoyed our stay here.

Should be a great hotel. The staff work hard but having a broken toilet in the bridal suite, is unacceptable. When reported on check out I was told they would look at it. Not a great customer experience. A lift out of order is another sign of what is happening at this hotel
Lovely welcome. Big rooms. Comfortable bed. Warm - and the food was excellent!

Lovely Hotel
Great location. Staff were excellent and the service was great. Hotel needs a bit of maintenance. A lot of things worn looking and starting to degrade.
The venue took the money even though I'd cancelled. Then I called the hotel and was informed that I would be issued a refund. However when Expedia contacted them, they refused. £155.
I enjoyed my first visit here for a business trip and will probably book it again as I felt safe and the staff were great. The only downside for me was That the whole hotel felt like it needed some TLC. I didn’t spend much time in the room but it was nice and large but my windows were dirty. Unfortunately the shower in my bathroom was dreadful. I did mention it when leaving the hotel so they could look into it.
Wonderful hotel. Secluded in beautiful surroundings.
I was on foot and Google map had me walking across the golf course. Which was alarming.
Spacious rooms. Well appointed. Really comfortable bed and usable shower. My only negative is the shower screen. Not a fan. Always leak. Quality towels and a rail that kept it toasty warm.
You are at an advantage if you’re a driver. Not designed for pedestrians.
The restaurant was fine.
Good friendly service throughout the hotel.
Stayed one night but would be happy to stay longer.

Liked: Staff & service, amenities
Hotel staff and grounds were excellent but the rooms and corridors are looking rather tired. Lovely place overall just needs a spruce up but top marks to the staff as they were all very polite and friendly.
Great stay for an easy commute to London the next day. Wonderful grounds and a decent restaurant and menu selection.
Very comfortable and spacious room.
