I recently stayed at Hotel Ballast, and while there were some positives, I left feeling disappointed overall.
The good: The staff were incredibly kind, respectful, and helpful. Our check-in process was smooth, and they kindly allowed us to check in early, which was much appreciated. The bed itself was comfortable, and the hotel has a nice atmosphere.
The not-so-good: Unfortunately, the cleanliness and attention to detail in the room were not up to par for a hotel of this caliber. Upon entering, we noticed dry blood stains on the bed sheets, which was very unsettling. When we called the front desk, the staff were understanding but couldn’t switch our room since the hotel was fully booked. Housekeeping replaced the sheets, but the “new” ones also had pen stains. For the price we paid, I expected clean, unstained linens.
Additionally, the toilet in our room had visible brown stains around the rim, which was another disappointing detail that detracted from the experience.
Overall, the staff’s kindness and efforts made the stay bearable, but I wouldn’t choose to stay here again. Cleanliness and attention to detail are crucial, especially for a hotel that markets itself as high-end.
