Bikers’ Retreat
Located in the middle of the Root River bike trail, it’s a perfect location to go biking in either direction. And having the shed for locking up bikes was ideal. Quiet, peaceful little town offering an amazing pie shop a block from the rental property. The house was well equipped (except for towels- make sure to bring your own bath and hand towels). We loved the back deck and patio space for dining, hanging out, and for drying our wet clothes after a fun afternoon of tubing down the Root River.

Good Basecamp for a weekend in Lanesboro
This house is great for a small family. We had 2 couples so the bed situation (1 queen, 2 twins) was weird, but we made it work. It's well kept, owners communicated well. We saw a play in Lanesboro, went to some breweries and restaurants, visited a bluegrass festival, and did a good bit of fishing. Pretty great weekend getaway overall.

We had a wonderful time away with girlfriends. The place was gorgeous, meticulous, comforting homey, and a beautiful setting, a small, quaint town, outside of Lanesboro and Rushford, a sweet retreat in the fall the hostess personalized the trip by welcoming us in person, couldn’t have been better

We enjoyed the house so much! Very clean! Everything you need is supplied, you do need to bring your own bathroom towels which was no problem Great location to bike trail. Gem of a location!
Great location in a small town with super nice people! Loved the house, outdoor patios, and the shed for the bikes! Ideal parking in the front and right around the corner from the pie shop! Trail is right up the block. Perfect!

Great house in an excellent location
This property was clean with modern appliances, nicely furnished, and comfortable. The owner, Linda, was very friendly and accommodating. The location is perfect, being just a block from the Root River Trail. Whalen is less than 5 miles from Lanesboro and is much quieter, and sits about in the middle of what I consider to be the best stretch of the trail (the Harmony-Preston Trail connector to the west and Peterson on the to the east). I stayed in this property as a solo cyclist, but it would comfortably house a couple with two children. Highly recommended.

Nice place, close to the trail, however....
They did not provide towels. This area is a bunch of small towns, so we had to go 10 miles away and bought towels at a dollar store to get us by. This is a first for me and I've stayed at several VRBOs.

We were looking for a clean, comfortable home, close to the Root River Trail for several days of bicycling. The Guest House was perfect. We could easily bike into Lanesboro for a meal or take a longer ride to explore other trail towns. Linda was very responsive and welcoming. Everything was as advertised.

Nice stay in Whalan
We love the location. Right next to the bike trail and famous pie shop. The interior of the house is basic and could use some upgrades, but we know what we're getting into since we stayed there before. The deck and lower fire pit area are very nice. It's a good value for the money.

Whalen quaint! House Comfortable! Bike Trails Excellent!
Covid-19 has changed the face of everything and The Bluff View Guest House in the quaint town of Whalan provided a wonderful, safe getaway for my friend and I! It's a block away from the bike trail that takes you either 4.7 miles into Lanesboro or 14 miles to Rushford. The Pie Shop in Whalan is amazing but was closed due to Covid-19. Treasures on the Trail was a fun find as well as visiting Amish Farms in the countryside!
