Had planned to arrive within their weekday opening hours but were unable to do it due to unforeseen transportation delays toward Leipzig and we did not have the ability to contact them. . We arrived at 8:30 pm and after multiple attempts to get into the building, we finally went to a hotel nearby to spend the night. When we asked the front desk clerk if they knew anything about that place and explained our situation, they advised us that this situation happens on a regular basis.
The next day, in the early afternoon, we went to the location to check-in for our already paid 2nd night and were told that we no longer had a reservation because we had been “no-shows” the night before and that the room we had rented was already rented to someone else. When we argued that it was already paid for, we were told that it did not matter as we were “no-shows”. When we asked to speak to a manager, we were told there was nobody to talk to and that they had just applied their rules and referred us to the Hotels.com website to see them. (When you read the information on the email received from Hotels.com, it states that “We will not be able to refund any payment for no-shows or early check-out”. However, there is nothing that states that they can cancel your fully paid reservation. We e-mailed the head office to voice our discontent about what happened they replied to call hotels.com to be told about what happens when one does not arrive on the 1st day. Did not expect this in Germany!!!
