100' Prime Lakefront w/sandy lake bottom - updated cottage w/dock/boats/bikes

Enjoy one of Michigan's finest all-sports lakes in a secluded setting, with undeveloped lots on all sides (effectively 300' of private lake frontage). Our rustic/retro cottage kitchen, bathroom and powder room are all updated. Included at no extra charge is the use of our 14' aluminum fishing boat w/outboard motor & plenty of gas, standup paddleboards, kayaks, bicycles, and plenty of firewood for our indoor fireplace and outdoor firepit. (Dock and fishing boat are available around May 1 - November 1, but are removed during the other colder months.)

(Note: this is just 1 of about 5-10 "Bear Lake"s in the state of Michigan. Ours is the largest one, located in Manistee County, Bear Lake/Pleasanton Townships, south of Traverse City and north of Manistee, on U.S. 31.)
Make yourself comfortable in this cottage, which features a fireplace. There's a private patio. A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. Complimentary wireless internet access is available to keep you connected.
Take in the views from a garden and make use of amenities such as barbecue grills and bike parking.
Guests will find features like internet access and onsite parking.

Perfect getaway
This little place was absolutely wonderful. The house is in a quite wooded area, very cozy and well equipped. The host was very friendly and helpful, even guided me through how to use the boat. It’s a great place to stay and I can’t wait to come back!

Beware
Needs some TLC. Propane heater was not vented. Oven was filthy as was carpet. Electrical plug above kitchen sink is loose. BEWARE! Lighting is dim. Dock is slippery and no hand rails. Couldn't excess boat. To far away from dock. Fire place wood was wet, not covered. Had to wash dishes before using. Cleaned out silverware drawer as it probably never had been done before. Bottom line... We are glad to be home!

Ideal Location
My family and I couldn't be more pleased with our experience at Bear Lake. Even though we managed to get cold, windy, rainy weather, we had a cozy cabin on a gorgeous lake. The cabin has modern amenities, yet a retro vibe that evokes nostalgia. On the nights it was dry, we enjoyed the grill and firepit. Kevin made sure we had everything we needed and was great to work with. Definitely plan to return during the warm season!

EXACTLY what we were looking for!
Loved the comfy, old-fashioned furniture, the rustic cabin, yet with up-to-date kitchen and bath. Came for the cooler weather and changing leaves. Perfect timing! Two weeks of nothing but sitting on the dock with our coffee or wine. Mornings with the propane heater to take the chill off, and (most) evenings with the wood stove. Reading the guest book - "our 5th", "10th", "12th" "vacation here". No wonder people keep coming back! Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece of heaven with your guests!

Secluded family getaway
Very relaxing, secluded quiet family getaway. The location is settled on a dead end gravel road with minimal traffic. The cottage itself is surrounded and covered by trees so, plenty of shade. The lake front was very shallow and clear which allowed us and the kids to wade and swim without concern. Also, Lake Michigan with clear water beaches is only 13 minutes away. The only reason for the 4/5 star “accuracy of listing” is because the listing stated an A/C was in the master bedroom and there was not. Other than that, the listing and photos are pretty spot on. Kevin the owner was absolutely fantastic and friendly. We will definitely be back and look forward to working with him again.

If this cabin is available - BOOK IT NOW!!
Don’t hesitate! This cabin is directly on Bear Lake and I wished I lived there. It’s a perfect rustic Michigan cabin, with everything you will need for the best relaxing getaway. The sunrises were incredible, the sunsets were stunning. Even the crescent moon was bright and beautiful over the Lake. Kevin communicated with us all along the way. We didn’t use the boat, kayak or paddle boards because it was the end of October and…brrr. But Kevin had gas in the motor of the boat just in case we wanted. And to think we could have used all of those without an extra charge! The wifi, the TV, the free firewood for the working fireplace, the warm gas heaters, the stocked cabinets (T.P., paper towels) made our stay so much more enjoyable. I’ve never been in a more convenient and well stocked cabin. We loved all the windows that faced the water. We are already looking forward to a return visit. Also, if you aren’t familiar with the area, Bear Lake is so close to Manistee, Arcadia, Frankfort, and other spots of Michigan beauty. Next time, we’ll bring our own pillows as that is always more comfortable. We stayed in the master bedroom and the bed was comfortable. Plenty of closet space and drawers to get our things out of suitcases. Thanks, Kevin, for sharing your cabin with us!

Very Peaceful with Exception.
Overall nice with exceptions. Beautiful lake and nice cottage. It was very quiet and we had a lot of fun. Great swimming beach. Close to fun stuff. There was an issue with the sewer and they had it draining in a trench which was open and it smelled awful every time someone ran the water. It smelled awful when we were outside. Especially at the fire pit. This should of never been that way. If that was addressed it would of been a much nicer experience.

Perfect Lake and Nice host
We enjoyed are week so much. Our host was great! The only thing which could improve was the pots and pans in kitchen. The non stick was coming off most and made me nervous it would be in our food. I would buy regular pots so people could not ruin them with the metal utensils and maybe a mixing bowl set. Cottage was so clean. Beds great. Upholstered Furniture older but being outside all day using the lake made that ok for us. We even had a fishing boat with a motor and kayaks for all of us to use and stand up paddle board s We would go back here again.

Peace and quiet and closer to M22 than we realized!
We enjoyed our stay at the Juniper house, which was a peaceful retreat for us. Kevin met us at check in to make sure we knew how everything worked and where things were. He also made himself available, as needed, which was kind of him. We enjoyed making fires inside, as it was a bit windy outside for a fire. Plenty of dry firewood to burn, which was nice. House was equipped with both a gas and charcoal grill and plenty of kayaks, all things we appreciate in a lake house rental. The buffer between the neighbors was nicer than most lake houses and provided an extra sense of privacy. And, if you want to go enjoy a sunset on the big lake, I’d highly recommend a drive over to Inspiration Point. We’d definitely return if in the Bear Lake area.
