We got a room with a jacuzzi and it didn't work and didn't realize it until 6:45 am on Labor Day. I called the front desk to ask how to turn it on and they gave me a few options which didn't work so they said they would call maintenance and call me back. About 15 minutes later, I called them again to ask what they found out and was told they will have maintenance stop to look at it. Unfortunately, I needed to get ready to pick up my family at the Mackinaw Bridge and didn't have enough time to enjoy the jacuzzi. When I asked for a refund for just the difference between a regular 2 queen room (which is what I was originally going to get) and the room with the jacuzzi, I was told no because I refused help from maintenance. At that point, it was too late.

I wonder how this hotel has got 3 star ratings when the building was way poor in cleaning and the whole room was totally smelly like a weed smell. There were cob webs and room was smelly at all time. There is no provision for setting the room temperature also. It’s totally not recommendable

The room was as clean as it could possibly be. The decor is dated . The mattress needs to be turned, as there is a dent from normal usage. Despite the few appearance issues, we will continue to use this hotel as our vacation spot.

It was quiet and the beach area was great. the room we had the carpet needs replaced the area by the bed to the bath area is not good I step on it and it had a sharp spot. also the ac unit was really loud we walk around and we didn't hear other units. we would stay again

It's great location, but needs a deep clean.

It's decent for the cost. The rooms really need a deep clean. The large trash cans in hallways, stairways, lower level outside by the elevator were always overflowing. We stayed for 3 days. Maybe they are short on workers.

Not a great first impression— outside of door is worn, chipped and in poor condition; the inside seems worse! Carpet to bath is torn down to padding and tack strip; dust around cords and baseboards is thick; no nightstand outlets; bathroom light/fan fixture is open and fan is quite loud; bathroom smells of urine. I would not recommend to anyone.

Clarion hotel Mackinaw City

Check in was supposed to be at 4pm,we arrived at 4:10 and still had a 15 minute wait Room was on second floor,no elevator and I have neuropathy with little or no balance. Breakfast room also on 2nd floor with the elevator in this building at very end of the floor from the breakfast room,no hot eggs of any sort. No elliptical machine in what they passed off as an exercise room,2nd night the entrance to the "exercise room" was blocked by a truck with a huge trailer. Bed not comfortable etc etc, won't stay there again.

Ok but would pick a different place.

Room is small but clean. Pool is freezing. Beach has a lot of goose poop and beach towles like someone had a party and it needs to be cleaned up. You can hear everything outside of your room. The motorcycle, people talking seagulls.

I would rather sleep in my car than stay here. Had 1st level beachfront room.walked in room to check it out first. Sliding door lock completely broken. Front desk called maintenance. As we stood in room waiting for him(never came) 30 minutes later. We noticed on all the walls streaks of black trails…. Either bed bug and or cockroach infestation. Pulled back the sheet on bed to find stains & black specks on sheets. Literally started dry heaving. Thank god we looked in the room 1st before bringing in our luggage. Ashley the “manager” is an absolute coward! Would not refund us nor would she or any staff go look at the condition of the room. She would not even come out & face me. Her staff called her & yet she answered & then kept telling me “she’s on another call” she’ll call back to “talk to me” about her refusal to refund me. She offered another room. Are you serious???? Absolutely filthy disgusting room and another one would be better??? I arrived 1 1/2 before check in & room wasn’t ready.. no worries… went back at 4 check in time coward Ashley nowhere to be found! Imagine that… she had her other 2 employees working the front desk. She’s dirty just like the facility she runs!!!! Full well knowing there’s going to be complaints from customers. STAY AWAY !!! Unless you want to bring home an infestation of bed bugs and cockroaches.

I appreciated the kindness of the staff- they were great. The facilities and grounds have been neglected and are simply in disrepair. Rooms are surface cleaned only. The carpets are dirty. Our coffee maker- which was located in the bathroom- had standing water in it the tank, upon our arrival and it was slimy inside the tank. Needless to say I went out for coffee. The pool was not clear, and looked unclean. I complained to the manager- who was professionally rude and clearly did not care to listen to my concerns. The only benefit was the beach nearby. At the end of the day we were happy to have a place to lay our heads- but I wouldn’t stay here again nor can I recommend it to anyone. The price we paid was moderate to high- for our family- and the hotel quality did not match its price in any way.

The lobby staff was wonderful. Very disappointed in the condition of the property, lots of trash. The room was very outdated. Hallways were littered. Didn't touch the ice machine. Price wise you get what you pay for. The parking lot was full. Probably will choose something else next time.

I was very disapointed that when I booked through Expedia that I had asked (through Expedia) a room on the lake shore. I did not get a room over looking the lake. The lady Maria was super nice and gave me a room half way looking the water. She didn't have to, but she did. The rooms were a little dirty with cob webs and bugs. The stairs were filthy. Its really run down. I won't be using Expedia any more to schedule my bookings. Thanks MaryAnne
