This home offered a comfortable base to explore the surrounding areas. Our stay in Maggie Valley provided hiking, waterfalls, antiquing, shopping, nature all within 5-15 minutes. Asheville was only 30-35 minutes away, pending traffic. The house is centrally-located in a beautiful community offering mountain views and eclectic mix of homes; lots to see while walking my dog on their winding roads. There's a beautiful golf course in a mountainous setting at the bottom of the valley. We ate at local restaurants, enjoyed unique breweries in Waynesville and Asheville, and clean mountain air. Soco Falls waterfall is a must, about 15 minutes away and easily accessible for all ages. The house is homey, reminds you truly of an older Aunt's house, nothing fancy, but we had everything we needed for our stay at a very reasonable price. The screened-in porch would be awesome in warm weather. Waynesville had a LOT of cute shops in a great setting only 15 minutes away. Maggie Valley was what you would expect in a mountain community - antique stores, quaint restaurants, among local craft-style tourist offerings. Asheville provided a hip shopping experience mixing locally-owned shoppes with some name-brands, lots of street musicians/performers, amid a plethora of eating experiences. If you like vintage and antiques, the Antique Tobacco Barn in Asheville was fabulous. I could have spent hours there. In all, we enjoyed a great 4 nite visit to this whole area.
