Disliked: Room comfort
The concept of this tiny hostal was at first interesting. But in practicle terms horrible as it turned out. First of all it is located on the second floor. No elevator! And the stairs are very very steep!!! The beds are narrow and crampted. Visualize bed space on a Navy submarine. Metal railings on the beds with sharp corners stick out.. I banged my head, arms, elbows and almost an eye on them. As do others on a regular basis. The bathrooms are reached by trecking through the restaurant seating area....Customers gawk as half wake, half dressed hostal guests come and go to the bathrooms some 40 yards from the hostal entrance. The sinks for hand washing are a trickle of water. At night they turn off the water to the toilets and urinals. And with no overnight cleaning crew the bathrooms become a stinky mess. Where barefooted hostal guests walk on urine splattered floors then treck it back to the hostals, into their rooms and back into bed....This I watched happen every night!!! This place is always loud with music from bands or the music system from the restaurants upstairs. Plus the people on the hostal's roof blasting a large wireless speaker at night.....The majority of the guests were good people. The staff were always superb. The location also great.
The hostel was fun, energetic, and located in the middle of everything for me. I was able to have morning coffee at the cafe located in the lobby area, eat and drink good food upstairs, and even get a hair cut at the barbers they have in there.
The only downsides to the hostel were the size of the rooms. I am a big guy 6 foot 9 so the bed situation could have been real bad had I not got a top bunk. There are no individual lockers for your things like and most hostel only a little lock cubby about your bed.
There is a baggage room where you can leave your stuff but most people kept their bags in their rooms which left even less walking space.
The toilets are outside the hostel area which was a little weird waking up hungover and having to walk through a area with hostel guest and locals eating but it wasnt to to bad.
All in all I enjoyed my experience here and would most likely stay here again.
I wasn’t aware of the fact that this was located in the back of a bar/club. Music played loudly until about 1am. This was an oversight in my part since I didn’t do research. For certain individuals on a weekend this may be a plus. Should be fine to stay at during the week. I would also recommend installing a privacy curtain to keep bugs out, particularly mosuqitos.
Overall: Staff was nice, environment felt safe, facilities were clean, and I would recommend for the price.
I enjoyed my stay, friendly staff & good location, great coffee bar and food places in the same building! Showers are very good, the stock beds are a bit small height-wise
The place is ok for the price, I paid $220 MXN for one night. It is located in a very centric part of town so I liked that.
The room itself is very small and it has 9 bunk beds, to me it felt too crowded.
I'm 6'2 and had the misfortune to be placed in the middle bed. The size from mattress to top bed is about 18" or so, so it was very uncomfortable to get in and I did not like the feeling of not being able to sit up at least a little bit. Laying down knees bent, my knees touched the top bunk.
I would say if you are as tall or taller you should definitely think about that first.
Another thing I didn't like very much was that the guy on the bed above me made too much noise. In the middle of the night I don't know if he fell or something but made that much noise.
Over all it was ok, for the price I don't complain and it was only one night.
But I would definitely look for more options.
