Wonderful beach getaway
We enjoyed our stay very much. Very relaxing. Having the beach to walk on was so peaceful. Fishing and crabbing off the dock was so great and convenient! Loved the house, retained its original old beach house charm which we love! Would definitely return. Thank you for sharing your beach home with us.

Wonderful!!!!
We were blessed with sunny breezy skies for our entire two week stay. We caught blue and stone crabs clams and plenty of fish. This is our favorite place to go to such a peaceful beautiful property a real get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We shall return next season.

The beach was beautiful. I loved being able to leisurely watch my family have fun without the worry of there being strange people like at local beaches. The dock worried me some because of the loose boards. I have a lot of weakness in my joints due to a medical condition so trying to correct my step when a board popped up was harder for me and would be hard for older folks as well. Overall, the walk was very pretty and I just walked very slowly as to not irritate a board. I did enjoy the house very much, but was thankful to have overpacked because some of the things listed available were empty or I couldn't find where the guidebook had listed them. For example, laundry soap was empty, towels were a bit sparse, and the first aid kit I could not locate. A couple of times I stepped on loose metal tacks on the deck, luckily they did not penetrate the skin but I don't know where they came from. My only suggestion would be that if it may rain during your trip, pack some deet. The mosquitos get crazy after the rain but otherwise are not very noticeable. The bedding was clean and comfortable, but I did get chilly. When I went to the area with the extra blankets, several smelled overwhelmingly of dogs, like maybe someone used the towels for their pet during the stay and the smell just didn't wash out. I was able to locate many clean-smelling pillows and blankets aside from those. The communication is great. A lot of information is given and I would love to return. (:

Great place to unwind and have family time. Loved our stay. First vacation we were not rushed to go to amusement parks, etc. Just beach and fishing. We did take a day to go on ferry to visit a couple of the other islands. Loved our stay

2nd summer
This is our 2nd summer at WindSwept and we loved it...again. Although a warning to anyone visiting this summer- the yellow flies are out for blood. That was the only bad thing about our visit. (we did not have this issue last year so I guess it just depends on the season) If you have the opportunity to introduce yourself to the neighbors, you should. They are super sweet and knowledgable about the area. We went into Beaufort twice this trip- once for the Catamaran cruise to Cape Lookout and again for the Pirate Cruise with our kids. I highly recommend both if you are looking for an excursion. If we don't buy our own coastal paradise in the coming months, we will return next summer for sure.

Private Oasis
Windswept was exceptional. The location was private and on a nice quiet street. No need to leave the house as the private beach and dock offered everything you would need for outdoor recreating! The house is cozy and comfortable. There are two close local restaurants with great food. The house was well equipped. It is a little more secluded (which we loved) and we would definitely book and will book again in the future! The listing was very accurate with exception that they do not want pets on the carpet room upstairs, which is understandable. We had to adjust our sleeping arrangements due to this with our dog but that was a minor thing. The hosts were very responsive with any questions and so accommodating when we asked to stay one more day! We will be coming back!

An escape from the nonstop routine of life!
My Mom and I typically going to busier beach towns but wanted something more quiet this time around. This place was perfect!! Cool mornings on the back porch watching the day start and the sounds of the purple martins. Walks looking for seashells on the privates beach which my dogs loved living their best off leash lives!! The house was beyond well stocked with everything you could need. Honestly, grab some groceries on your way and just nestle into this place for your whole vacation!! Definitely would love to return here for another escape! Thank you to the owners for sharing your slice of escape with us!!

Worth it - even solo when it’s not that warm!
I stayed in this nature oasis with just my two dogs (was supposed to be 3, and all humans bailed). It was SO AWESOME! Walking out to the beach, working with the tides to see it all rush in, then out, the quiet, THE BIRDS, the fiddler crab town at low tide, rescuing hermit crabs at low tide by the dock… it was all with the drive and expense. The house is REALLY comfortable. I do get uneasy in some places alone, but I felt at ease as soon as I walked in the door. There are kayaks (a two person and single, plus SUPs and I wish I could’ve used them. I would stay a month if I could. I could go on and on about it for days. But this is already a novel. Oh, my dogs had a blast too! Plus you can see sunrise and sunset and travel to all the other islands/beaches easily. There is a neighbor dog who walks onto the private beach once a day, but I never saw him/her. Just tracks and ____.

Perfect Destination
I was looking for a place that my family and our dog could enjoy without the summer crowds. Windswept certainly delivered beyond our expectations. We fished all day, walked the beach for shells and enjoyed the water toys. My older children enjoyed bike rides in the evening exploring the neighborhood. The house is older, but that is part of the charm. Our evenings were spent in the screened in porch enjoying the nice ocean breeze. We enjoyed dinner at Patty's which is right down the street. Our kids loved going to Davis Shore Provisions for souvenirs and pie! This was the most relaxing vacation we ever took and can't wait to return. The owners were excellent with communication as well.

Amazing!!
One of the best vacations we’ve ever had! We have 4 children (10,9,8, and 3.5). If you love the beach, but don’t love crowds, THIS is your place. The water was calm and we never worried about waves being an issue for our children, it was so quiet and peaceful. The house is clean, but the star of the show is not the house, but the outside (quiet, private beach, all the beach accessories you could need). Husband and I fished A LOT and caught about 8 species of fish. We trapped crabs, tried to do some clam digging (with no luck). Our kids are begging to go back next year. Thanks for sharing such a great place!

Isolated and fabulous
We had a fantastic week. My only complaint is that it wasn't long enough. I sat on the private beach and read while my husband fished on the dock and my kids played, fished and swam. We are all about laid back vacations so it was perfect for us. Pros: Isolated Nice private beach Shallow water for swimming Kayacks/Lifejackets/Bait traps/etc in "toy shed" Stocked Kitchen 2 smart TVs (1 upstairs in kids suite/1 in living room) Lovely screened in porch for meals Cons: small beds (my husnand and I slept in different rooms- we are used to a king bed. The listing says queen but I'm pretty sure the beds downstairs are doubles- I need my space. haha) Dog poop on beach (apparently a neighbor has a dog and it's his favorite spot to poop. I did a lot of scooping and tossing each morning) Loose boards leading to water- be careful, especially if you have little ones. No stairs to get down to the beach- there is a makeshift platform but no stairs. My kids had no trouble but the over 45 crowd did. lol. The good news is, my legs are stronger after spending a week walking the boardwalk and getting up and down from the beach :-) If you are looking for something to do while you are there we highly recommend taking the Harkers Island Ferry to Cape Lookout and renting a UTV for the day. The scenery is beautiful and the shells are amazing. We also enjoyed visiting the Maritime Museum in Beaufort, the Old Burying Ground and having lunch on the water. We will be back for sure!!

fun vacation
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. The views from the porch and the deck are truly stunning, and the surroundings are peaceful. We used the kayaks and we crabbed. Kids had fun being outdoors. The location of the property is a bit remote (which was why we chose it, but in hindsight, it was the wrong kind of remote). The private beach for this property is very small, so we couldn't really walk around much to enjoy the beautiful views. So we ended up driving to see beaches and to walk. There are lots of beautiful things to see, but not without driving out for at least 20-30min. Unfortunately during our stay there were some significant issues with water (the pump broke down a few times and we had no water in the house... ). The owners were very responsible and did their best to fix the situation and were kind to reimburse us for our troubles. However, this definitely impacted our stay.

Marsh dream come true
My family and I had a fantastic stay. I wanted to title this "An Abundance of Curiosities" after the recent book by Bolen and Parnell on NC's Coastal Plains. The property and the experiences it offered were everything we wanted and needed. We met lovely people and made friends, caught fish and crabs, saw amazing birds, and rested. Our 9 year and 6 year olds both had a great time. The screened porch was fixed mid week after some serious wind early on, but not only was this not a disruption, it was welcomed! It was a real pleasure to meet Tom, who fixed the screen and only added to our week. The house itself was very tasteful; we loved the arrangement, the hominess, (the kids and I loved looking at the big map in the kitchen and doing puzzles on the big table looking out at the marsh) and the way it allowed us to be connected to the rest of the property and surrounding area. We would love to come back!

Very beautiful setting
We've stayed in the Sealevel area several times and second time at this house. The house is not fancy, but has everything you need, including a well supplied kitchen. The sunrises and sunsets over the tidal marsh are amazing and walking out the boardwalk to the beach area, seeing great blue herons, egrets and pelicans and others as well as a deck to view all this from is what brought us back. The stars at night are also amazing as there's very little light pollution. It's also very nice to be if the beaten path and have privacy.

Salt marsh heaven
The location is wonderful and the boardwalk out to the sound heavenly. Great for bird watching and dangling legs into the water and daydreaming. The house has everything one needs and has a great shower. The furniture could use a little bit of updating - esp. the sofa facing the TV which verges on uncomfortable as no more springs and loft left, and the floor tile in the hallway is coming loose. There is a little bit of mouse action in the house but if you keep all the food put away it should be fine. Super quiet location and good night sky. House was thoroughly cleaned and had lots of towels and cleaning supplies and good washer and dryer. Convenient location to Cedar Point Wildlife Refuge and Beaufort and Atlantic Beach. We visited in December so not a ton of bugs but can imagine in warmer months that the screened-in porch would come in handy.
