Property is dated and a bit worn down but acceptable. Space was.good for 2 people and our dog, that we crate when away, any more and it will be tight accommodations. Shower stall is quite small and.some larger people or clostrophobics may find it too small to work but worked fine for us. Public beach access is right accross the street, the pier a couple blocks and grocery store a couple blocks more. If your just looking for a place to sleep and shower, your not going to find a better deal in Emerald Isle, in season.

Meh...
The good... The porperty is only a block from the beach. Short drive to multiple restaurants/stores. Allowed dogs. The bad.. Everything in the house was covered in sand when we arrived. The front door has mold on the weatherstriping. Multiple of the drop-ceiling tiles seemed like they were about to fall down along with looking wet or like they were previously wet. The listing made it seem as though there was a private walkway to the beach, there was not. All around a lot smaller than the pictures made it seem.

Not what the site showed on line
Furniture smelled and was broken, cooking dishes were not clean. Only had 2 towels and 2 wash clothes for two people for a week . Shower was very small. Oven door wouldn't stay closed while cooking. We left 3 days early and returned home from a week long vacation.

Overall Good Stay
Overall the property was good with a great location. However, when we got there at 4 to check in, it was still being cleaned so we had to wait a few minutes. It was no big deal but we were told check in was at 4.

Worst property evet!#
Pictures are misleading. Property is poorly maintained. Has had multiple water leaks in the bathroom and bedroom. Window blinds were broken, several electric baseboard heating units were coming off the wall. We left a day early after the previous night at 10:30 pm water began leaking over the bed!! Maintenance came and opened up the ceiling to find a pipe that had a garbage bag taped around as a fix. It was wrapped with a pan in the ceiling tile to catch water leaking!!!! The bathroom had serious leak issues because the linen closet door is coming apart. Avoid this property. We were not offered a refund just a opportunity to move to another unit or get a free night in the off season. After the two days we spent with this host's property, we have no desire to stay with them again.

Pleasant
I enjoyed my stay, the place is older but I knew that based on the listing so it was fine with me. The location is great and it is a quiet neighborhood. The price was reasonable and the apartment was clean. Nothing fancy but it was functional and very close to the beach.

Great location!
Location is perfect. Fine for a weekend getaway if you are spending all of your time on the beach. Many upgrades are needed, but it’s functional, was clean on our arrival, and in a great neighborhood.

Needs to be renovated correctly. Shower was so small you can hardly turn around. The whole place was probably was very nice back in the early 60s. The owner was very nice but he was up most of the night moving stuff in unit above !!! I left one day early as I was just not very comfortable staying in this place. Would not rent again ever!!! No way

Avoid
Pics on the website obviously are not up to date. I’m not sure where to start on the issues w/this property. There were water stains & what appeared to be mold all over the drop ceiling tiles, the whole property was permeated with a smell of mildew, AC was provided by temp/portable units & the kitchen is basically unusable in my opinion, appliances appear to be straight out of the 50’s or so. Bathroom left a lot to be desired as well, ie very tiny shower. Property manager was the bright spot, she was very helpful & responded to text messages very quickly & resolved our TV issues in a very timely manner. Basically For the cost per night it is way overpriced, if it was right on the beach w/these issues is one thing but being a block back & in desperate need of repair & an update just does not justify the cost outlay for the room. It looks like my 1st college apartment except in worse condition. I have pics in case anyone doubts this review. I would avoid this rental if possible, we will not be staying there again.

Very close to the beach
The house is across the street from the beach and a great walking distance to ships and restaurants. The unit was pretty clean although very dated. Decorated nicely. We never used the kitchen. They have a hose at the front of the house that’s great for washing off sand after a day at the beach.

Great location but really needs some work
Upon arrival to Emerald Isle I contacted the designated contact person for our stay. I had checked with her earlier in the week to see if we could check in early which she said she couldn't guarantee and I fully understand that in peak season. However, we didn't even get our keys from the office until almost 4:45 (check in was 4). No apologies, explination or anything. The location of this rental was great. Right across the street from a large beach access. It was your basic beach apartment rental. It was in a unit that had 4 apartments. The parking was very inconvenient as they had designated spots for each unit, which is fine, but our unit spot was on the complete opposite side of the building which made unloading more difficult. There was no central air which I had specifically asked about before booking and was assured there was. They did have two large free standing AC units inside. One in the bedroom and one in the living room. That left the kitchen and bathroom very hot! It is a pet friendly rental which we appreciated but the cloth couch smelled like wet, dirty dog. You were not able to sit on it. The bedroom was fine and comfortable. The bed was pretty good. The kitchen was a tiny OLD unit from the 1960's apartments. It worked but was difficult. The hinges on the oven door however were broken so it closed on my arm burning it pretty good. The shower was so small my husband didn't even fit and he is not huge 6'1" and 200lbs. There were bugs in every corner, Water spots and leaks in the cieling tiles. Rust and peeling paint on doors. I say all this because it wasn't a cheap booking. We paid a lot of money for three nights of which the first one we couldn't even get in until 5 and then had to be checked out promptly at 10am on our last day. I feel like I have always used VRBO to rent from individual owners who cared. This ended up being a vacation rental company with no personality or personal touches. I was very disappointed We made the best of our stay and had a good time but I willl NEVER rent from anything Evolve manages again!. I feel like VRBO should reconsider its partnership with them! Couldn't beat the location!
We really enjoyed our stay this past week - it was such a treat to just walk across the street and be on a beautiful, open beach. For those of you staying here with pets - dogs are allowed on the beach as long as they're on a leash. The rental had almost everything we needed for the week. Some things to keep in mind: - You do not need to bring charcoal/fuel for grilling. It's already there. There is also outdoor seating available behind the rental. - You might opt to bring your own drinking water or filter. - Some kitchen stuff you might want to bring - a colander, aluminum foil, dish soap/sponges, coffee filters, cooking oil, extra paper towels. - The toiletries that were provided were a few rolls of toilet paper and hand soap for the sinks. Bring anything else that you might need. There is a hairdryer there. - If the AC has been off for a while, it might feel a little moist in there. Definitely throw it on when you arrive - it'll be more comfortable in a few hours. - If you plan on going to The Point to check out the sunset - do it! It's awesome. Plan ahead for parking, though. There aren't many spots and the walk is a few miles otherwise. We had a great week and will definitely return to EI!

Not worth it
The pictures are deceiving. Not on the beach. The rental looked clean but smelled terrible. Evolve is not responsive and does not have enough respect for their clients to have a verbal phone conversation. They refused to call me, just kept messaging me after I requested to speak with someone regarding an issue that I needed to resolve.

Close to the beach
We took a chance on this place since it didn't have any reviews and we would rent it again in the future. Here are some takeaways from our stay: Pros: -Best thing about this place is that it's located close to the beach! -Beach wagon provided was great to carry chairs, cooler, umbrella to beach! -Hot water stayed hot for both my husband and I to shower -Provided plenty of towels/washcloths -For the most part, a clean place to stay Cons: -Find a new cleaning crew- sink and shower faucets and shower bar were nasty with black sludge. Replacing and updating these hardwares would make a great difference -tiny shower-need to put a suction cup shower shelf in shower to hold shampoos/bodywashes. Built in "shower shelves" don't hold anything -replace storm door...there are sharp, rusty bolts poking through the old storm door that attach the sign for the place that can easily cut someone (storm door did not latch bc it was missing the part that was suppose to be on the door casing for it to latch to) -the person above us the days we were there (5/31-6/3) was a very LOUD WALKER! It sounded like they stomped everywhere they walked. We had to run the ac fan so it would drown out the "stomping" that took place each morning at 530! Also, the unit above this one has an entrance that's on ground level and the stairs to that space go up the other side of this unit's living room...it's pretty noisy when someone is going in and out (this is no fault to the owners of this unit, this is just info that I'd like to know before renting a place) If you're wanting to do any cooking...you probably don't want to do it here....extremely outdated kitchen. Looked retro in the pictures but ended up very dated. I know it sounds like a lot of cons, but being so close to the beach and being a mostly clean property, we would definitely return! Also, Danielle, the guest contact, was great and helpful each time we called!
