Checking in staff very helpful and friendly, accompanied to the room shown all facilities. The room was exactly as described. Its an historical coaching house on the main high street in an historical village/town. You can hear road noise and pub chatter. However, it was a very hot day and a warm muggy evening so the window was open fully so if closed this would have reduced any noise.
I am sure the room had not seen a duster or hoover in months (am being generous 🤔 could've been years) landing n staircase was the same 😒
Bath / shower screen were grimy. Thankfully the sheets were clean. I showered at a friend's. If I hadn't made plans I would've left and come home. I couldn't afford to pay to stay somewhere else. I chose The George to be nearer my friends, last year I stayed at Newent lodges at the golf course and it is 1000 times better. It's such a shame that this is the best Newent town has to offer. A mega disappointment. I would never recommend The George. Next time I visit I'll be heading to the golf course.

Perfect stopover, friendly pub, interesting town.
Centuries-old pub with loads of character, good beer selection, friendly staff, smooth check-in and a big room (even had a bath) overlooking the quirky, historic High St.
Parking outside, cafes, shops, post office, all within yards.

It was too noisy and wasn’t told what to do with the keys as I left at 5.00 am. There was no plug for the bath and didn’t like having to walk along the corridor to go to the toilet.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
The venue was very dusty. Dirty spoons. Bed was terrible, with broken springs. Unaccessible fountain. Bathroom: far away, and no hot water
The staff were very friendly & hospitable. The only problem was finding someone in to book in and out. Other than that it was quite adequate for our needs and very conveniently situated.

The property is old and full of character. Obviously not like a travel lodge or premier in. Atmosphere excellent. Would stay again
