Le Manoir du Rodoir is a lovely hotel, not as old as it looks (it dates from 1886) but it meets all the criteria for a classic French country house. The rooms are large, the bar and restaurant comfortable and while the menu is a little limited, the food was of a high quality. There is also a breakfast room (and presumablly used as an extension to the restaurant when needed) which is really attractive and overlooks a small lake in a valley behind the hotel. The staff were most pleasant and helpful although their English was limited, there were few commmunication problems.
Our only complaint, and it's a monir one, is that the hotel is not actually in Nivillac but some way outside the town, on the road to La Roche-Bernard which caused us a few problems. However, thanks to a helpful lady who drove her car to where the hotel is situated whilst we followed, the slight inconvenience was alleviated by the peacefulness of the setting and the attractiveness of the hotel. If we'd had a sat-nav, then there wouldn't have been a problem!
