Great economical alternative at OSL

I travel frequently to Oslo and normally I choose the Radisson blue which is a short walk from the main terminal. This time I decided to go with the scandal and I have to say the hotel more than met my expectations. The restaurant was good. They have a small bar area and an outdoor seating area that I thoroughly enjoyed. The room is exactly what you would expect from the Scandic chain. It was clean and relatively well appointed. I could’ve used a couple of extra pillows in the room, and the only detractor was that I could not control the temperature in the room as it seemed to be set centrally and it was relatively warm outside, so the room felt a little stuffy. For a hotel with this proximity to the runway, I will say that the noise levels were manageable, and in fact with the windows closed, the room was incredibly quiet. I would recommend this hotel and stay here again.

Hotel was clean and staff helpful. Bus number 55 takes you directly to the hotel. We got on it from the train station. You can also get to the airport by bus from the hotel. The bus stops in front of the hotel which is very helpful. We had free breakfast and it was very good with many food options! There is fast train option from the airport to Oslo and it takes about 20-25 to get to the city. Ticket prices for this option were quite reasonable. There are luggage lockers by the rental car area in the airport. The lockers are a very decent size. We were able to fit three hand carry bags along with three backpacks into one locker!

Clean, efficient with modern styling. The breakfast buffet(s) were beyond stellar: muesli area, plus dedicated lacto-free/gluten free area, kids pancake area, hot egg/meat area of numerous styles and preparations for eggs, vegetable buffet, grain variety buffet, cheese buffet. The floor manager saw my difficulty with the brown cheese slicer and helped me without fanfare, as did another gentleman with the hot water dispenser (looked like a tea button) for the oatmeal. The bed was extremely comfortable. Thank you.
