We stayed at Hyatt Place Melbourne / Palm Bay booking a room with two queen beds and a sofa bed for our family of four. While I have stayed at various Hyatt properties in the past and generally found them acceptable, this experience was regrettably the worst.
Our troubles began with the pool, which was uncomfortably cold despite the front desk assuring us that it was heated. (There was a hot tub on the pictures that doesn’t exist) After a chilling swim, we returned to our room to warm up and turned on the heater, only to be met with a smell of burning and the fire alarm going off. I made several calls to the emergency number and the reception desk, but received no response.I went down to the reception myself around 8 PM, only to find it unattended and had to wait several min before a staff member appeared.
I explained the situation to the staff member, who sent another employee to check on our heater. This second staff member informed us that the vents were clogged, which was supposedly normal, and shockingly suggested we remove our carbon monoxide detector to prevent further alarms. This suggestion was not only unhelpful but also unsafe, reminiscent of the meme of a dog sitting in a burning room claiming “everything is fine.”
Additionally, the water controls in the shower were faulty, causing water to flow from both the shower and the tub valve at the same time.
The breakfast offered the next morning included spoiled berries and fruit, which was very disappointing.
