Wonderful

We had a wonderful time using the lodge as a home base for visiting Mt. Rainier. The staff were very helpful. We will definitely visit again if are in the area
Staff was nice, but for the fact that they tried to give us a room with two queen beds, when we paid for a room with a King bed. It should not matter to staff why my partner and I want a King sized bed; we paid for one. Also, you can hear everyone walking around the property. Bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper.
When I called to inquire about future reservations I was told they were full. Went on Expedia to find that that was not true. When checking in...manager not friendly at all btw and after speaking with other guests I was not alone in my opinion. I mentioned that to him and was told that he didn’t know why that was said but it doesn't matter she has less than a week left. The laundry room has two broken washing machines and one broken dryer and only one working washer and one dryer. Definitely not enough for the guests. The rooms were just okay, shower head sprayed everywhere and got water all over the floor, the bathroom sink was clogged and there were gnats in the room. Rules made for guests to abide by, do not apply to the resident dog. Tje guests dog must be on a leash at all times and you are supposed to pick up behind your pet. All very reasonable and expected but the managers dog roams freely and relieves herself without anything being picked up. I will not stay there again, overpriced for accommodations with basically zero amenities, management rude, grumpy and clearly doesn’t want to be there. The only positive is that the cleaning ladies and young lady that multitasks by being office representative, cleaning lady etc were all very friendly and helpful.
My rating of 3 is not at all a negative rating. It's just a fair rating so everyone has reasonable expectations. This is not the nicest, fanciest place you'd ever stay (a 5 rating), but it's definitely not the worst place you'd ever stay (a 1 rating). I don't think the people giving those ratings are being fair to the hotel operators or potential visitors. The room was basic, but clean. The lobby area wasn't much, but we didn't need it to be. I think there are some misleading pictures of the hotel that make it look better than it really is, but aside from that I don't really have any complaints. It's a small, independent hotel in a small town, serving a large national park that doesn't really have a lot of nearby, convenient lodging options.
Well located, friendly staff.
Full disclosure : Wifi Internet is barely working in most of the rooms. Bandwidth was metered at 4 Mbps… if ever this is important to you.
The location is convenient to the park; the room was quiet, clean and neat. The downsides were that the front desk person was not that nice and the room door is open to outside directly and there were a couple of flies in the room!
The property was convenient to town and the rooms were clean. The staff was friendly and accommodating. It is a nice rustic place in a beautiful setting.
Room was a good size. Gentleman who checked us in was not friendly. The toilet was so loud and sounded like it was going to break when we flushed it. Also the shower sounded the same when we used it.
Front desk fast and friendly. Clean room and comfortable bed. Quiet, so slept like a baby. Got to see two elk roaming in the back from the window:). Only stayed one night and left early, but enjoyed my stay.

This is a solid 4.5 property. It is a bit older but the remodeling to the room was very nicely done, creating a large, warm, inviting space with warm wood tones appropriate to the beautiful natural surroundings. The microwave and the generously sized refrigerator were definitely a plus! One the outside, there is an attempt to spruce things up with flowers and some nice touches. However, there were some cobwebs about on the exterior area of the lodge. We stayed only a few days and we will return if given the chance. This is a solid place to stay while enjoying all of the natural beauty within a few miles of the motel. Packwood is a neat little town full of friendly people. The ladies at the town welcome center were very friendly and helpful!
