With lower cost hotels, I don't expect the same experience, however, there were a few things that should have been different, regardless of the price.
There were no mattresses, just foam mattress toppers on a spring board.
The door to the room was very insulating but the window outside, even when closed you'd think it open based on just how much street noise we heard perfectly, as if we were in the street.
The hair dryer handle got so hot you couldn't use it, if you can't offer a safe product, don't offer it at all.
Finally, the first day, we needed our towels changed due to hygienic reasons so we left them on the floor as instructed. They didn't turn down the room or exchange the towels, however, they did for all the following days despite us hanging up our towels for reuse.
The room was really warm and we were never able to get it cooler.
The bathroom also didn't have a fan so as a solution there was a 4 inch gap at the bottom of the door which meant that sounds and smells are shared with whoever else is staying in the room.
Before investing in extravagant lobbies, make sure the rooms have safe and comfortable features.
