According to ADA regulations, a property is not supposed to require anything of the owner of a service dog that they don’t require of someone without one. I was told that if i didn’t sign the service dog paperwork, they wouldn’t let me check in. This is against federal law. The AC system shuts off at night while you’re asleep because it doesn’t see you moving? Seriously?! We got hot in the night and woke up because of this - very inconvenient and stupid. We asked for an upper floor so that we wouldn’t be awakened by guests above us, they were sold out so we were awakened 2 of 3 nights by loud crashing around in the room above us at 4:30am for an hour and a half solid and again at 5am. The handyman was hammering and using a staple gun this morning at 6:45 in the stairway. We didn’t get much sleep during our stay. The pantry items are priced ridiculously - don’t bother, you won’t sell anything at that price. No breakfast is offered, even though prices are the same as other hotels who do offer it. Pet area grass is shot and bushes are all cut down.

We booked a suite with a kitchenette, it was stocked with everything we needed. We really enjoyed the fresh coffee that was available to guests. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would recommend this property to our friends.

Recent Updates to the Rooms, Fresh look!
This was our second stay at this hotel. They have recently remodeled/upgraded the rooms and they are very nice, clean and comfortable. There is now an upgraded AC/heating system that recognizes when you are in the room, has a controlled auto thermostat and is significantly quieter than the old system. The front desk is, as always friendly and helpful. Security is excellent both in the rooms and at the front with the entrance auto locking at 10PM. A great hotel in Oak Harbor!

We had two rooms, one updated and the other one was not. Both clean but nothing special. Front entry/lobby super dark and uninviting. Nothing special just a place to spend a night.

Took my daughter on a 2-week road trip... We stayed at multiple motels in multiple cities and Candlewood was by far the nicest but nowhere near the most expensive. In fact, it was cheaper than most places but Head and shoulders above as far as quality of premises and staff

We loved our stay! Our room was very clean. It has also been recently renovated. The staff was welcoming and helpful.The laundry room at no-charge was a bonus! We wish we could have stayed longer! A Chinese restaurant with delicious food is nearby.

If you asked me this morning before check out I would have given a better review. However the clerk was just rude. I asked for a receipt (since the credit card charge pending was different than my guaranteed rate.). She said since we made reservations thru a third party she couldn’t. She had no way of knowing what rate I would be charged. Weird because they had me sign an acknowledgment of the rate when I checked in. I said she charged my credit card at check in. She claimed she didn’t charge anything. And if the pending charge wasn’t adjusted, she said call the manager and pass on my concern. Wow, I’ve stayed at 6 properties in the last week. All managed to get an email or printed receipt and no one acted like I was a third rate customer for reserving thru Expedia.
