This is a nice boutique hotel in a great niche neighborhood. Great design and restaurant on site. Some routine maintace for an older building.

Liked: Cleanliness
Disliked: Staff & service, amenities
Wonmt stay here again. Very limited dining hours. No room service. No breakfast. Stupidly expensive valet parking ($55/night). Cancelled my second night and went to a different hotel. Front desk staff very unwelcoming and unhelpful. Overall a pretty terrible experience for an expensive hotel. Very poor lighting in the room as well. Bed comfortable, room clean. But overall the rest of the experience truly sucked.
The hotel was nice enough for a renovated very old property. The staff was great. But the traffic noise was significant during the day and the loud drunks outside the bar next door were really loud so I needed earplugs. The homeless on the street were plentiful and an annoyance, but probably harmless. Our room was really nice, but required earplugs to sleep
Overall very cute hotel and super friendly staff that was extremely accommodating. My biggest issue was the cleanliness. There were really gross stains on the bench in my room and one of the hand towels. The bedding smelled like it wasn’t cleaned properly at all. It smelled like old sweat. I did inform the front desk and the woman came and personally changed the bedding, which I really appreciated. I think if they just take better care of the cleaning, it would be a great hotel.
I booked two nights at Hotel Grand Stark but checked out early after just one night due to the completely unacceptable noise situation.
There is no sound insulation in the rooms — you can hear people walking by, conversations from the hallway, and even worse, screaming from the homeless population outside throughout the night. It felt unsafe and made getting any rest impossible.
I contacted Expedia for a refund for the unused night. They’ve reached out to the hotel multiple times but received no response. I personally emailed the general manager (whose card I received from the front desk), and never got a reply. It’s been days with no acknowledgment or resolution.
For a property that presents itself as a premium boutique hotel, this is the worst service I’ve encountered. You’re paying for discomfort, poor sleep, and a management team that goes silent the moment there's an issue.
Avoid this hotel unless you’re okay with zero noise blocking, a stressful atmosphere, and no support if things go wrong.
My stay at Hotel Grand Stark was good - not great and not bad, either. The rooms are tastefully decorated, the bedding was comfortable, and I had all the basics I needed.
But, for a building that went through a recent renovation, I would have appreciated sound insulation and new windows to help buffer rooms from the noise of the busy city streets surrounding the building. I ended up using earplugs on my second night to block out the noise. Also, the rain shower head was a very nice touch, but it was so close to the shower wall that the handle to turn the water poked into my back everytime I used the shower.
I did enjoy my visit to The Bitter Bar for happy hour, and received great service from Hope at the front desk when I had questions come up.
This hotel is very European with the bathroom and sink disconnected. The street view is beautiful but can be very loud throughout the entire night. The bed is great but very low to the ground so anyone over the age of 30 would truly struggle getting in and out. The building also said no smoking but smelled of cigarettes. This location is great and The staff was friendly and helpful.
