I have spent in the historic lodge only one night before flying to Germany. Still, it was a great experience due to the caring and informative hosts of the lodge. The villa is conveniently situated in a walking distance from the natural reserve with a variety of birds, plants and animals and a Maori performance. Airport is 10 min by the car. Guest rooms overlook the garden; hence, it is quite there (until numerous birds will awake). Wine, fruits, Sue's tasty cake made the stay even more enjoyable. The lodge has a heated pool. Breakfast is perfect.
The hosts are warm and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them. This was our second visit and we would go back again.
The room is large with pleasant decor and outlook. The guest facilities are excellent with a guest lounge with TV, tea/coffee making area, books, comfy chairs and great outlook.
Breakfast is cooked personally by the hosts with an amazing variety of options.
Sue and Robin are the perfect hosts: accomodating but not intrusive. Accomodations spotless, refined, quiet in a lovely setting. Close to airport and city centre. Wonderful recommendations for food and sights. Without hesitation would recommend and would stay again. This was a perfect 4 night stay at the end of our New Zealand vacation. Thanks Sue and Robin!
The hosts are so kind and we had a great experience sharing time at night with red wine. They also gave us recommendations for restaurants for dinner. Overall, this was a nice stay!

Close to the airport, prob best suited to tourists
Owners of the property went to great lengths to be very helpful. One of them went to the trouble to deliver to the airport what they thought was a forgotten brochure. Would highly recommend this establishment for kindness and consideration.

Touring
The couple who owned this B&B couldn't have been more helpful & charming. The room was gorgeous & the food, fresh & inviting. They arranged for us to go on a trip & took us personally to a wildlife reserve. The only thing that was a let down was the slow & intermittent wifi, but I believe that will be remedied soon.
Robin and Sue went the extra mile to set up a great tour of Christchurch during our stay. They make a great Pinot wine and their own olive oil. Breakfast was the best and we would diffinately stay there again.
Exceptional. Sue popped us into Chirstchurch to the restaurant we had booked for dinner. When Sue discovered it was my husband's birthday she popped a candle into one of her excellent home made cakes and presented it to him when we returned from dinner.
Staying at the Clearview Lodge was a wonderful experience. Unfortunately we were only in for an overnight prior to starting a South Island adventure in a campervan - we would have loved to stay a few more days! The hospitality was unparalleled, the atmosphere was casually elegant, the grounds were beautiful and the food was absolutely delicious. The propieters are on-premise and are the consumate hosts and just super nice people. Upon arrival we were made to feel right at home - like we were staying at the home of close friends. They have their own wine label from grapes grown on the property with complimentary tastings (the three different vintages of Pinot Noir and the Port were to die for!). They also make their own olive oil that is simply devine (especially with the homemade dukkah!) and have a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables grown on site as well - we were just in time for the best cherries I've ever tasted! The wine, olive oil and produce are also for sale at very reasonable prices. This B&B exceeded our epxectations in every way and we highly recommend these accommodations to travelers seeking some pampering at a great value.
It was very nice place, beautiful garden and very homy feeling. The owners are very sweet and hospitable and always tried to make sure that we have everything. They were very helpful with some advice and they make very good wine and port and you are welcome to have as much as you want :-)
We also loved the breakfast and their jam is excellent.
Go there and you won't regret !
