We were disappointed in Hotel Alexis. Our room was 4 or 5 floors up with no elevator. The breakfast was a roll and coffee with the option of paying 2 euros more per person for a larger breakfast. The shower alternated between hot and cold; in three or four days we didn't figure out how to have a steady temperature. Housekeeping was minimal; papers were not picked up from the floor, and one day clothes that had been on one of the chairs when we left for the day was dumped on the floor where the chair had been. The shared bathroom was reasonably clean, but the floor was often wet, probably from the shower, I hope. The hotel claimed to have free Wi-Fi, but it only worked in the lobby and on the first floor. To get to the hotel, we had to go down a dim street that smelled like urine. The restaurant outside our window had extremely loud patrons until after midnight on the nights that it was open. The hotel was located near the train station (about 7-10 minute walk), and they did hold our bags for us after check out time, which we appreciated. Overall, I would have felt better about it if it had been advertised differently (not claimed free breakfast, Wi-Fi, etc). I plan to look into other options the next time I go to Rome.
