My husband and I spent one night in Hotel George, on our travels through the Savoie region of France. The hotel is located in an old building, and I enjoyed the sense of history and the odd layout of some of the floors. Unfortunately, the hotel also is on a very busy road, which takes away somewhat from its charm. At night, the road was less busy and the traffic noise was not a problem. We found the room rather musty-smelling, but opening the window and shutters for a while solved the problem. Otherwise, the room and bathroom were spacious enough. The decor was nondescript, but the basics were there. There was only one glass in the room, but the gentleman at the desk on the main floor kindly provided me with a second glass when I asked. We were able to park easily in a parking space beside the hotel. Apparently there was also a garage we could have used, but we chose to stay in the open space. Breakfast was the typical croissants, bread and café au lait - simple, but tasty and satisfying. The staff seemed to be largely busy with their own activities (e.g., in the morning, the lady of the hotel was doing some ironing in the breakfast room/ bar) but that did not prevent them from seeing to the needs of their guests when required. Overall, we found this hotel perfectly comfortable for a one-night stay.
