Typical Florida Resort Condo
Our stay at Sanibel Moorings was pleasant enough. Two bedrooms, two baths and a living room met our needs. We were only there for 3 nights, so we did no cooking. (The kitchen did seem adequate to do simple cooking.) The "welcome" pack of necessities, such as toilet paper, paper towels, kitchen linens, dishwasher soap and hand soap was quite nice. The screened porch was quite nice for morning coffee (too cool at night to use then). The décor was dated but adequate, nothing special. The resort itself had nice amenities: a helpful front desk, two heated swimming pools, free beach chairs, inexpensive rentals, daily towel exchange and a nice stretch of shell beach.
There was one issue: on the VRBO site, the unit was listed for a much lower price than the actual rental source was renting it for. When I called about the discrepancy, the company wasn't even aware of the lower price on the VRBO site. The difference in price was substantial and I got no help from the rental source (Sanibel Moorings) except an offer to cancel my rental with no charge. As it was too late to find another place of that size, I declined that offer and took the rental. This discrepancy should be checked carefully before booking based on the lower VRBO cost.
Sanibel Island itself is wonderful, and Sanibel Moorings was convenient enough to access everything the island has to offer including shops and lots of good restaurants (a car is necessary and at the time of year we went, traffic was heavy). Just check the costs carefully; otherwise, it was a nice enough place to stay (and most of the guests were long-time renters, returning year after year, according to the resort).
