The host was incredibly attentive and accommodating of everyone's needs, despite how many of us were there. She was very hospitable and even stayed up until midnight one night in order to check in some late-arriving guests. Communication was never a problem either as she speaks English very, very well and explains house rules very well.
The best feature of this hotel was the humbleness and kindness throughout the 4 nights and 5 days that I stayed there. As a foreigner living in Japan it was so refreshing and helpful to always here from the guesthouse staff about local recommendations. As a first time traveler to Hokkaido they helped me figure out transportation to and from my destinations and recommend delicious food during my time there! Overall, if you find yourself wanting to stay in the Sapporo area I highly recommend this guesthouse. They were the kindest people to take care of me since I’ve begun my travel in Japan last year.
My friend and I came for the snow festival and this was the only place we could find that was affordable. They put little separators to separate the room between the different groups of guests sleeping in the same room. The place itself was pretty great since it was small, cozy, and clean, with a toaster oven (I use toaster ovens a lot), though my experience was slightly irked by the people in the same dorm-style room since they didn't have the manners to be quiet (aka, they were basically yelling) when others were trying to sleep. There's a simple but free breakfast which is very appreciated. Overall, the place itself is great, though the people you might share the room with might not be.
I loved it. The staff was really warm (it was only one or two people, but they were always available). When I had nowhere to stay a second night, they found a place for me.
The people at the hostel weren't into going out. That was frustrating for me. But it was simply bad luck.
