Location: Next to Dollywood, 3 mile Pigeon Forge, 10 Miles from Gatlinburg Area, Tennessee, USA
The cabin sits on 1 FULL acre atop of Parrot Mountain above Dollywood and Splash Country. Parrot Mountain Park is at the bottom of our hill! While here, you can listen to the Dollywood steam train whistling around the next mountain off in the distance while watching the steam roll out from the treetops. The cabin setting is quiet with the only noise being the local wildlife going about their day. Also during certain times of the day, you can faintly hear the tropical birds singing from the Parrot Mountain Park below. You can drive to the bottom of the mountain (1/4 mile) and there is the entrance to Dollywood and Splash Country. We also have easy access to all the bypasses into the Pigeon Forge Strip and Gatlinburg without the headache if getting trapped in the slow traffic jam on the main strip. Instead, pick where you want to go and inject yourself into that spot from the simple back routes in no time.
The cabin is surrounded by woodlands on all sides, except of course for the clearing of the view, have seclusion while still being in the middle of it all at the same time! We took a long time to find this perfect location. We did not want a cabin built on a shear cliff (if you have kids or a long night with friends, no need to worry about going skydiving unintentionally), we also did not want a cabin built right on top of other cabins with the feel of having a cabin in a condo development (the whole point of getting a cabin is to be in the woods not another neighborhood). For us, we needed privacy and did not want to look at 4 other decks while relaxing on ours. This cabin fits the main criteria! We are sure you will also appreciate it yourself!
A campfire pit in the front so you can roast marshmallows while checking out the daytime view of the mountains or nighttime lights of the Pigeon Forge Strip, and Gatlinburg Ski Slope, while still having the feeling of camping in the woods high up on the mountain ALL at the same time!

**FAQ'S**
Question:
We are bringing small children, where are the sleeper sofas located in the cabin?
Answer:
The cabin has 3 levels.
First Floor Media Room, Large LED TV, Xbox 360, Xbox This room has 2 red microfiber queen-size sleeper sofas. The children usually sleep here if we have friends staying in the attached King Size bedroom. If it's just us, our kids sleep in this 1st-floor master bedroom with the 36' Flat Screen Wall Mount TV and watch their kid shows/sleepover thing and then they are out. This floor is separated from the top 2 floors by an enclosed stairway (keeping out the top two levels' noise).
The 2nd level is the living room/dining/kitchen/master w/jacuzzi tub/fireplace/main deck. This floor's leather couch folds out into a queen sleeper as well. (if you want your children on the same floor with you). The second floor is open (aside from the bedroom) to the game loft on the 3rd floor.
On the 3rd floor is the pool table, tv, darts, and sitting table. We positioned it this way because we could then stay up later, while the kids were in bed, and enjoy the rest of the cabin/game room/hot tub/deck, while the kids were asleep downstairs undisturbed due to the stairwell. The game room is even farther from the 1st floor reducing any 'wake up noise' while the adults were being adults.
Question:
How close are the other cabins next to the Thistle Britches Cabin?
Answer:
Thistle Britches sits on 1 full acre and is on the highest elevation of all the cabins on the mountain. The cabin is surrounded on 3 sides by woodlands, and open to the front view with various trees.
Here is the perspective sitting on the deck facing out towards the view from the cabin:
Right of the cabin:
To the right is 180 degrees of pure woodlands, that grade up 250 feet to the sloping ridge of the mountain, on the other side of the ridge is another 100 acres of pure woods. If you take the short trail up there you can see a 30-mile view of the Valley on the backside of our mountain.
Behind the cabin:
Behind the cabin is 100% woodlands. The ridge follows straight back from the side of the cabin towards the back about 500 feet until the ridge slopes down and ends at a point. I have walked back through the small trail on the ridge to the point and found an awesome 320-degree view of the valley and Smoky Mountains and LeConte. It is at this point you tell is where the Indians and civil war soldiers would have used to spot game or use as a lookout point.
Left-Front Corner of the Cabin
This is the 1/2 of the acre we have that contains woodland, and small brush and gently slopes down 400 feet to the end of the road below, further down the slope is a cabin of which is well hidden and more than far enough away.
Right - Front Corner
The front of the cabin contains plenty of trees to block the neighboring cabin of which is about a football field length away, this is the closest cabin to ours which is a very good distance. This neighboring cabin also is set up so that their deck is on the other side so any visitors there are on the other side of the cabin from us.
