Beautiful, historic hotel. Had a very good price including breakfast. Mattress not great, think it was new but springs very prominent and noisy. Nice breakfast. All staff very helpful but particular praise for the 2 staff (shaved/long hair, should have asked their names) who were so naturally friendly and took a great pride in their roles 👏
It's uniqueness and history
Lovely fiendly staff. Breakfast fine
Apart from my bedroom which was fine and comfortable the rest of the buiding was somewhat dowdy and needs a makeover.
Nice hotel with parking, in centre of town. Great position for exploring this historic place. Old, interesting building with friendly and helpful staff, clean, comfortable rooms. Great breakfast. Lots of nearby places to eat and drink.

Staff amazing so helpful comfy bed loved the look of an old hotel which has kept its integrity.

Stairs difficult with luggage, 2nd floor floors were creaky, otherwise enjoyed our stay and breakfast was excellent if not a surprise as not spotted on the booking.
Room was the outermost place of all so very high up and isolated. Felt I would have been a bit uncomfortable with that and if travelling alone tbh. Therefore many stairs to climb and very windy at night made it impossible to sleep as single pane old glass and loud. Room was dirty and needed updating. The shower and mirror height were ridiculous unless your are five feet six. Mattress seemed like a cheap Argos child’s mattress and pillows were hard. Sounds like a lot doesn’t it but even though we were going cheaper, we just expected to sleep and be clean which didn’t happen. Wouldn’t stay again. The only positive was the breakfast which had a great selection on offer.
This is a delightful, old fashioned hotel with a real sense of history. I stayed in two different single rooms, both individually decorated, with comfortable beds, hot showers and a bath which filled at record speed!
There was a very good choice for breakfast and after going through the revolving doors the whole town was in easy walking distance. It was very convenient to be able to pay £5 a day for parking behind the hotel too. Would definitely recommend and visit again. The only disappointment was that there wasn't a lift - my 90 year old mum would have loved to have stayed here.
Lovely hotel, clean close to everything, lovely friendly staff. Parking at hotel bonus will be staying again.

This hotel is an extremely old property with lots of character. The staff are friendly and breakfast is good with a vegan and gluten free option. However it does need some upgrading. All the carpets were extremely worn especially on the stairs. Our room was tired and the bathroom needed changing. The window frames were flaking but the view was good as we were on the 3rd floor. Its a shame because the hotel is in a good position in the town.
