Be careful if you are booking this hotel.
We booked a standard room for five nights 31 May to 5 June. We were promised a “balcony or terrace” but what we got was a basement room opening onto a communal playing-field area. Zero privacy, children running up and down in front of everyone’s rooms, noise, basically everyone on top of everyone else.
We didn’t stay as the hotel was full and they could offer no alternative. We booked the Princess Skiathos Resort through Expedia and that was excellent.
Alkyon put the room back on their website and it was gone within 24 hours.
I asked for a reasonable refund given the hotel had misrepresented the details but the hotel manager claimed to have no power over such decisions and head office were no help whatsoever.
Expedia, who we booked through, were excellent throughout; however they were unable to influence the hotel to give us a reasonable refund even though Alkyon had re-let the room.
The hotel’s position in Skiathos town is excellent and if you don’t mind the proximity of other people right outside your room then I’m sure it’s fine. If you value your personal space, however, be very careful to check what you are actually getting. And don’t expect any help from management.
