When you feel the need to getaway…book Whispering Winds located on the Colorado River between Bastrop and Smithville, Texas, just a little over an hour from Aggieland! Feel free to roam over three acres and enjoy the gentle breezes on your face, grab your fishing pole and catch giant catfish and bass. Sit in your chair to enjoy the sunrise while sipping on your morning coffee.

After lunch rent a kayak, tube, or canoe, and make your way down the river! Take out at the bridge or at River Bend Park after enjoying a few hours listening to the river waters flow, the trees whispering in the wind and the abundant wildlife. Rising Phoenix Adventures is close by, and you can rent kayaks, canoes, and tubes, they also provide shuttle services.

Back at the property enjoy a fire in the small firepit or make a fire down the hill while watching the sunset and grilling with family and friends.

Sleep comfortably in the three bedrooms and living area for overflow. One spacious bedroom is set up as a bunk room with two bunk beds featuring full-size mattresses on the bottom and twin-size mattress on the top. You will also find two additional twin mattresses under the bunk beds for overflow into the living area The other spacious bedroom features two full-size beds. The main bedroom features a queen-sized bed and a balcony with the best river view! Grab your coffee and enjoy the view while watching the sunrise. Sleep on the decks around the home if you dare or setup a tent down by the river!

After sunset, grab a book along with a glass of wine and read to your heart’s delight. Play games until midnight or stay up all night watching the shooting stars across the night sky.

Enjoy a short drive to Smithville, a picturesque and quintessential small town while grabbing lunch at Pockets Grille, Honey’s Pizza & Cocktails, The Front Room Wine Bar. Then check out Bone Spirits Distillery, Buescher State Park, Bastrop State Park for a hike, Bluff Creek Ranch or Rocky Hill Ranch for mountain biking enthusiasts, just minutes away, as well as Warda!

Don’t forget to check out the movie film sites used in Hope Floats, Tree of Life, Artois the Goat, Five Time Champion, Doonby, Natural Selection and Beneath the Darkness.
Whispering Winds will be adding amenities as time allows, so each time you return you find new surprises!

If you’re looking for some live entertainment, check out the Fat Cat Lounge/Café for some Jazz music.
