Welcome to The Rockies 2202, by Mountain Vacation Lodging. This ground floor, pet free condo has been nicely updated. Features include granite counters in the kitchen and both bathrooms, leather furniture, a new fireplace, large HDTVs, and a spacious layout. It is a ground floor unit with a covered patio and an enjoyable yard space. Onsite at this development you'll find lots of open space, a large heated pool and 2 hot tubs, a clubhouse with lounge, ping pong, BBQ grills and picnic areas. It also has a very convenient location within walking distance of Gondola Square, restaurants, shops, and activities. You can walk to the slopes or ride the free city bus.

The Condo:
This condo at The Rockies has a lot to like! It has the largest 2-bedroom floorplan in the whole development. It is close to the pool, hot tubs, volleyball court, and clubhouse, but not too close! Two bedrooms with a very flexible bed setup make this condo ideal for couples or families alike. The first bedroom has a split King bed, so it can be a regular King bed, or 2 extra long Twin beds, if you prefer. The second bedroom has a Twin over Queen bunk bed, so it can work for a couple or up to 3 kids. The living room includes a sleeper sofa for even more sleeping situation flexibility. Both bathrooms are accessible from the hallway, and one of the bathrooms is split, with doors between the vanity areas and the areas with the toilets, shower, and bathtub, which makes them very shareable and functional. If you need to get in some work while travelling, the owners have added a desk with a monitor for guest use. Most properties in Steamboat don't have AC. Upper level units not only require stairs but can also get pretty hot in the afternoons. This condo is a ground floor unit which stays relatively cool in the summer, and allows you to extend your living space into the outdoors. Summer guests will love the patio and grassy yard, while winter guests can watch the kids make snow angels or snowmen without leaving the warmth of the fire. After a long day on the slopes, you have easy access with no stairs required to walk in the door. Just put your skis and boards into your private ski locker and come on in to enjoy the warmth of the fire.

The large pool and hot tubs are open in ski season as well as the summer. The pool area includes restroom facilities, a gas fire pit, a pergola area, and lots of furniture that allow everyone to spread out and find a spot for themselves. There's a clubhouse here too. This can really help if your travel schedule has you arriving early or departing late, but the clubhouse offers more than just a place to hang out. It also has a ping pong table and small fitness room with a couple of machines. Summer guests will have the opportunity to play some volleyball, or might enjoy a BBQ with outdoor dining and great sunsets over Emerald Mountain.

The Location:
The Rockies Condos are located right below the Steamboat Grand, which is right across the street from Gondola Square. You're also not too far from shopping centers and the Yampa River. Walking to Gondola Square is very doable, especially if you're renting skis/boards and thus taking advantage of free storage right at the slopes. If you walk about 100 yards up to the bend in Cornice Road, there is a sidewalk that leads up to the Steamboat Grand, about another 100 yards. Then you head slightly downhill towards Gondola Square and Ski Time Square. If you're not wearing ski boots, and carrying gear, the walk is pretty easy, a good way to warm up your legs before hitting the slopes. You can store your skis and boots in Gondola Square, and if you'll be renting ski and snowboard equipment, storage is free! You don't have to walk though, because The Rockies has multiple free city bus routes and bus stops that are easy to use. The Purple line has two bus stops immediately adjacent to The Rockies, while the Red & Blue lines pick up and drop off on Mt Werner Road, still within easy walking distance, but offering a direct route to and from downtown Steamboat Springs. Check out the Steamboat Springs Transit website for up to date informatino on the routes, stops, and times.

Access:
The ground floor location of the condo means easy access, which can be really nice after a long day of skiing, hiking, or biking, not to mention when you have luggage or groceries to carry. From the parking lot, to the front door, you'll walk down about 7 stairs. Once you're inside, everything is on one floor. There are no stairs. There is also a boardwalk that leads from the unit straight to the pool and hot tub area, where you'll also find heated restrooms.

Good location on bus route. Unit is very close to pool (heated in winter; kids spent hours in there) and hot tub. Spring break 2024 hot tubs were sometimes full in late afternoon/evenings. Kitchen well stocked with cooking utensils. Good bath towels and beach towels. No dressers, only wire shelves and closet storage. One issue we had were the polyester sheets and pillows. Really uncomfortable bedding, very slippery and clammy feeling, and pillow cases slide right off the plastic covered pillows at night. If the bedding was different, we’d stay again. We found it to be just right for our family otherwise. Best thing about it is the reasonable price. Not a fancy unit, but clean and had a good kitchen allowing us to cook meals in.

Great Condo a short shuttle ride from skiing
This was a great condo for a quick ski weekend with my family - close to skiing and on the purple shuttle route. Really enjoyed the hot tub to help soothe our sore muscles after great days of skiing Steamboat’s champagne powder!

Spacious, comfortable & well-appointed
We stayed for 4 nights to ski, and the condo was perfect. It’s walking distance to the slopes, and there’s also a shuttle right out front. The king bed is super comfortable, and the kitchen has literally everything you could need to cook at home. Parking was easy and plentiful (we stayed M-F so I can’t tell you how crowded it might get on weekends. It was just the 2 of us, but it was nice that we each had our own bathroom. Would be comfortable & spacious enough for 2 to 3 additional people. Would stay again!

Good value place for quick stay
We got the two bedrooms and two baths that two older couples were looking for, and the complex was in a great location with amenities not far from our unit. We appreciated being on the ground floor, close to our parking space and having grills nearby. Kitchen was well equipped and furniture was comfortable. Bathrooms were not en-suite and hot water took some time to reach our showers but overall it was a fine place for a quick stay. Lots to Love in Steamboat.

Overall the condo was very accommodating. I had contacted the manager about 2 items. Split king bed - asked for bed to be turned into twin beds. Didn’t happen. Also, it was said there was a Keurig coffee maker, but there's no Keurig.

The condo was very clean. The kitchen was very well stocked. Plenty of room for all of us to spread out. The kids enjoyed the bunk beds. The pool and hot tub were convenient to the condo. Easy to get around town. Some of the best bath towels. We really enjoyed our weekend!

Location is great. Need to be patient, as buses rarely run on time. Place is very simple, but has all you need. Walls & ceiling are thin…only negative of place, but can’t control other guests Iin condo. Parking is easy and lots of spots.

Great location - spacious condo - great for families
Over the years, we've stayed at many Steamboat condos and this one was one of the better ones! The location was great including being on the first floor (which can sometimes be hit or miss). Convenient to the ski shuttle and town/mountain. The condo itself was well-appointed and spacious! With two teenage boys, we didn't feel like we were on top of each other. We'd definitely stay here again.

Location very convenient and central to downtown Steamboat. Shuttle to ski lift right outside condo and always on time. Condo had everything we needed for a great trip. Being on ground floor was easy to navigate with luggage and snowboard gear. Friendly staff. We will stay again!

Very nice condo
We all enjoyed our stay very much. We and another couple celebrating their anniversary stayed here for two nights. Although we had an electrical issue management dealt with it immediately to make sure we enjoyed our stay. It was super clean, higher end furnishes and a well equipped kitchen. All four of us recommend this property.

Great summer stay in Steamboat!
We really enjoyed this property for a long weekend trip in July. The unit was spacious, clean and well-equipped. It was an easy and quick trip to downtown and the resort. It was great to have a pool right there and we swam everyday. When we were there the hot tub wasn’t working but hopefully it’s fixed by the time fall arrives. We would definitely stay here again!

Great location and so comfortable!
This is one of the best-equipped VRBO's that we have ever stayed at. Everything you need in the kitchen and other rooms for a comfortable stay. We loved being able to walk to the Steamboat gondola, shops and restaurants. We will be back!

We were impressed by how close to the base this property was. It was exactly as advertised and had all of the things you need to have a great week away at the mountain. The amenities in the kitchen made it easy to cook for our family while we were there. A great place and we hope to return soon!

Super clean place with a great location and all that you need. It is only about a 5 to 10 minute walk to gondola square (depending on ice/snow). We loved the fireplace (heater) and having two full bathrooms. We would definitely recommend!

Great Steamboat Condo!
Easy to book, easy to communicate with, and easy to find! A great condo that is very well stocked! You could cook every single meal here if you wanted to. Comfy beds and comfy towels (can I get the towels for my house??). Condo shuttle is incredible, and 2 city bus stops close by. Easy to access downtown, the slopes, or shops! Thanks for a great trip and can’t wait to rent again!

Great spot for the family. Close to the base area - long walk or short shuttle ride which is preferred in ski gear. Shuttle stops right in front and also stops at the City Market grocery store along the 20 min loop. Outdoor ski locker great for storage. The hot tubs were close enough to run to without getting too cold. All of the amenities one needs in the kitchen. Cable TV and wifi, however I would recommend bringing your own streaming device if you prefer Netflix, etc over cable TV.
