We booked Atta as it looked like the kind of place that prides itself on its food, where we could retreat to for a relaxed end to our Japan visit.
The positives:
Lovely room with incredible views (top floor)
Peaceful setting & pool area
Staff are wonderful & kind
Amazing shower water pressure
Nice breakfast
Free soft drinks throughout the day and free fun drinks at cocktail hour, with nibbles - that was a nice touch
The negatives:
The place felt souless and westernized, largely due to the terrible menu on offer - lunchtime your typical options are a bland curry or margarita pizza, burger and chips, spaghetti with tomato sauce, a small and sad caprese salad. My partner decided to go hungry all day in favour of conceding to the horrible westernized menu on offer. The same can pretty much be said for the room service menu. So disappointing.
We didn’t bother with fine dining as the lunch indicated it wouldn’t be worth the price.
Walked an hour into the sparse area of Onna to get a japenese bbq, which was great, but note we could not get a taxi back as the GO app has nothing in range. The second night we dined at the beef and beer place at the bottom of the hill, to save the trek.
No gym.
Damp mould smell in the ladies toilets and the elevator, due to air con needing refreshing.
They wanted to charge us an extra 9k jpy (£48) to check out 1hr later, after spending nearly £1400 on 3 nights and when the hotel was almost empty!!
A nice property, but really lacking in food & vibe
